What is it like to live in Tashkent? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

City is very beautiful. It is historical city, more that 2000 years old, and at the same time it is very modern. People are very friendly.

What is the student lifestyle like in Tashkent?

Tashkent is a city for active people. Students may join a lot of clubs at Uni's. They may use libraries at any Uni after becoming member, and they can be member of central library.
Entertainments are: a lot of cinemas (russian or uzbek languages), parks, caffees, etc.

How much does it cost to live in Tashkent?

To eat home costs about 100 Euros per month.
Rent of furnished flats costs about 300 Euros. Rent of rooms are not popular, so there are no offers on them.
To eat in cafe or restaurants costs from 3 euros till unlimited :)
Transport costs from 0,2 euros in one direction.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Tashkent? Is there any advice you can give?

May use a lot of websites or fo to agencies. Websites normally in russian or uzbek languages. www.torg.uz is the most popular. Or if you are student, you may rent a room at dormitory of the university which costs about 80-100 Euros per a year.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There a lot of traditional and nontraditional kitchens.
National uzbek dishes divided by regions, as well the neighbour countries' national dishes are popular.
Additionally, nearly all cafes and restaurants offer European dishes.
So, there will be no doubt on dishes.
About fruits and vegetables can say that there are all natural and growth locally.
Non alcohol drinks: Coca Cola and Pepsi are here. Juices are from local products and presented by more that 20 companies with more than 100 brands.
Alcohol drinks are restricted for sale under 18 and after 10 p.m. You find any European, Russian or Local brands.

What places would you recommend visiting in Tashkent?

It depends on your preception, so may go to google or official portal http://tashkent.uz/eng.

Is it good to eat out in Tashkent? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is.

Is the nightlife good in Tashkent? Where is good to go?

After 11 p.m. in Tashkent there are only several restaurants work. Night clubs about 10 more popular ones.

What advice would you give future students heading to Tashkent?

You will get unrepeatable experience coming to Tashkent for a very low price )
