Pyynikin Munkkikahvila

I recently had family over to visit, and this was the spot that I made sure to bring them to- because of the view but also because you can turn it into a little day excursion.  Pyynkki tower is basically an observation tower in the middle of the woods, with a lovely cafe, and its worth visiting because of the where it is and whats in the cafe. To get to the tower, you end up walking through some lovely Finnish woods, and once you're there, you can go to the top and see all of Tampere- with a great view of both lakes as well. Then- before heading on to visit nearby Pispala [an old and quaint neighbourhood- worth  a walk-around]- you can go down to the cafe and try some of Finland's best cardamom munkki [donuts].

Finland has this special donughts called munkki. Normally you can find it in pretty much every store or cafe. 

However this place makes the best ones. Having weekend breakfast after doing some nice walk around the Pyynikki is a locals tradition. 

FYI, they have another shop in Keskustori bus station, next to Subway. It is a great place to enjoy a quick munkki ja kahvi before taking a bus to somewhere.
