What is it like to live in Sydney? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Its the best city to live in, it has a beautiful harbour very picturesque. There is always so much to do, it promotes an active and healthy lifestyle.

Amazing beaches, great weather and good public transport, no need for a car.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sydney?

As a student it is good because all students get discounts, even get their nails done.

How much does it cost to live in Sydney?

Sydney is quite expensive if you live central, but you can also live a bit further out of sydney and it is cheaper, areas like Parramatta, or in Manly, or in the Sutherland Shire which is easy by train. Also around Darling Harbour there is a lot of chinese student accommodation, if you live in sydney like Bondi it will cost $600 - $800 per forthnight including rent.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Sydney? Is there any advice you can give?

Its very easy to find accommodation in Sydney.

My advice would be to go onto a bed and breakfast site in Sydney or look on Gumtree for share accommodation. Or even the Glebe Point YHA, or back packers, if you are looking at renting I would go on google or Gumtree.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Sydney is a very multicultural city with food from all over the world, it is a gastormic feast.

What places would you recommend visiting in Sydney?

Great places and must see are:

  • The Opera house
  • The Harbour Bridge which you can climb for $300
  • Bondi Beach is a must for new year! A ferry ride to Manly
  • Northern beaches
  • Coogee
  • Rosebay
  • Double Bay and Cronulla beaches which is south of Sydney by local city train. A visit to the Blue Mountains is very special and beautiful which you can go by train or coach.

Sydney is a very multicultural city with food from all over the world:

  • Chinese in Darling Harbour Chinatown
  • Vietnamese in Cabramatta
  • Indian cuisine in Parramatta
  • Italian in Leichardt
  • Greek in Botany Bay san Souci
  • Lebanese and Arabic in Lakemba
  • African in Newmarket

And of course australian food everywhere, lovely seafood is also available and Tapas. Bondi Beach has lovely restaurants as well.

Is the nightlife good in Sydney? Where is good to go?

Night life is good in sydney most pubs have bands on during the week and weekend. An area under the Harbour bridge called "The Rocks" has good pubs, Oxford street in Paddington is always alive and vibrant. There are many nightclubs in the city and also in Manly, Bondi and Surrey Hills.

What advice would you give future students heading to Sydney?

Your best bet is to bring a couple of things you can layer over each other as it does get cold in winter. Temperatures should mostly be above 20 degrees Celsius during the daytime, with occasional drops to 15 degrees, There are lots of shops to buy a nice dress or pants for evening.

Always be aware of your surroundings and go out with friends instead of alone, as in all cities dont walk around alone late at night.
