Sweden in Eurovision song contest

Sweden has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1958 but the Swedish have not entered the contest in 1964, 1970 and 1976. Sweden has competed 45 times. The contest is selecting the representative called Melodifestivalen and it is broadcast by SVT.

It's television's most popular in Sweden, in 2006 she was watched by 46% of the population. In 1983, the Eurovision song contest was watched by 70% of the population while in 2006, 80% of the population saw him.

The first victory of the Swedish was in 1974 with Abba and Waterloo. Sweden usually takes the Eurovision Song Contest seriously and Swedish celebrities do not hesitate to participate submit nominations for their latest title.
