Summer Solstice

Summer solstice is as well known as St. John day. It is the longest day and the shortest night in the whole year, exactly on 24th June. Also it coincided with the holiday time of many Swedish and a lot of them decide to prolong them until august. They have 5 weeks holidays, and not 4 as in Spain.

Celebration is usually outside the big cities, in the fields. The most curios thing is the preparation of the may. It is a kind of structure they put into the middle of them and where they dance around… They prepare the structure even one month ago with flowers, colours…

Young people usually celebrate the night with some friends in tents or outside home. It is a very special day because you can see the sun even at midnight.
