Srilanka-Home to greenery and beaches
I recently made a short trip to Srilanka with my sister and had the opportunity to travel to three cities; Colombo, Kandy and Bientot.
Our first stay was at Kandy, a small hill station with the most picturesque view and ponds.Botanical garden is a must visit for all those plant lovers out there.
Srilanka is known for its tea plantation and there are many tea factories where you can learn the process of tea making starting from the plantation till the time it is packaged and transported to the markets. The process is different in different countires. In the factory we visited, the final coffee beans were segregated in 25 grades.
We also visited the famous spice garden starting from the plant of ginger to herbal oils which are made from different spices/and mixtures and are said to have healing to many diseases. However, it was overly expensive.
We also went to a small village Pinnawala where there is an elephant orphanage and conservatory. I saw how elephant feeding was done and their various tactics in the summer heat. We also had the famous coconut water that was refreshing.
Our next destination was Bientot and we stayed at a beach resort. The beach reaches out to Indian Ocean. It is a muddy beach but extremely peaceful for your nerves. A perfect cup of ginger tea alongside the beach can make anyone's day. Moreover the resorts offer spa facilities, movie night's and dining.
There are many water sports that one can enjoy along with fish therapy-a therapy whereby your dead skin is removed by fish on your feet.
Our final stop was Colombo, the capital of Srilanka and a highly populated city. There we checked out the political zone as well as the Crab Ministry. Moreover you can shop for Batik dresses and amazing cotton Sarees at any of the malls within your reach i.e Cotton Collection. I also got an amazing cotton Saree which I am going to get tailored very soon.
Talking about food, we had the most amazing local and international food.Breakfast and dinner was mostly buffet and covered many cuisines.Talking about Srilankan food, I loved the brinjal sabzi, Dahl curry, amberella (another vegetable which is not available in Pakistan) along with crab meat and amazing sweet dishes predominantly mint dessert, and refreshing hot Srilankan coffee.
