Why did you choose to go to Siegen, Germany?

As far as I know, Siegen is the greenest city in Germany. On my application I selected 3 options and this was one of the three colleges I applied to and here I took some political science courses.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

In my case the scholarship I got was about 450 euros per month. My stay here was from September to March.

What is the student lifestyle like in Siegen?

Sometimes there are parties but in general it is relatively quiet. It's finally a small town. We cannot expect to have the same lifestyle as Cologne, Munich or Berlin. Most people only go out on Fridays and Saturdays.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Siegen to other students?

Yeah, totally, but I'd like to tell you, if you like the quiet, you'll enjoy it. But if you're one of those guys who's a party animal all week, Siegen is not for you.

What is the food like?

The food is delicious but expensive, quite expensive in fact. College food is pretty cheap, though.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Siegen?

No, but you must take care of that in advance, like two or three months before your arrival, maybe more. If you try to find accommodation too late, you will find nothing.

How much does it cost to live in Siegen?

According to my experience I can say that they are approximately 300 euros for the rent and additional taxes. Excluding rent, it depends on your lifestyle. If you have fun all the time it will cost you more than 500 or 600 euros. If you go to parties but know how to manage your money, it will probably be 300 or 400 euros a month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The university offers free language courses. As far as the German language is concerned, I can say that it is not that easy.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Siegen from your city?

I live in Athens, Greece, so the only option I have to get to Siegen is by plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Siegen?

I recommend you go to Club OX or Meyer, you'll have a great time.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Siegen?

There are many places but I recommend going to the Da Vinci, El Rancho and Döner restaurants, those can't be missed.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Please visit the upper Castle, it is impressivethe lower Castle is now part of the university building complex and several hiking trails.

You're gonna love it!
