Published by flag-ro Patricia Ioana — 9 years ago

In a medieval town in which steps you through the narrow streets and ancient buildings hundreds of years old, a history museum is part of the scenery, and it is understood that he must exist and, consequently, must be visited and one that comes in Sibiu, eager to know the past of the city. When you say Sibiu, the thought makes you associate it with the Brukenthal Museum and vice versa, but Brukenthalul is a museum complex that includes the Museum of history the Altemberger House. A peek into the history of Sibiu must start here.

The Altemberger House, operates the Museum, sits on the Metropolitan Street nr. 2, very close to the Brukenthal Museum. Also known as the old town hall, is the most important ensemble of Gothic architecture with civil purpose in Transylvania. The House was built by Thomas Altemberger during 1470-1491, and in 1545 was bought by the city.

Medieval atmosphere greets you as you enter the courtyard of the Museum. You are greeted by the statues of Hermanilor, named after Herman, the legendary founder of the city, statues illustrating various specific trades of the middle ages: the Knight, the butcher, the banker, burgmeisterul, student, officer, the minstrel, the healer. Iron soldier, executed in 1915 for Bella B.a. and set in Large Market (similar statues being carried out in several cities in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and opened all at the same time), underlies the armorial and invites you to do a picture with him, something that cannot be missed, especially since inside the Museum shooting is prohibited.

The visit starts with the exhibition "evolution of communities of southern Transylvania" and the Habitat of the Paleolithic, Neolithic, Dacian era to the middle ages.  It has a special place in his patrician village church with original furniture from the 16th-18th century: a cupboard, a table, a four-poster bed, a Chair. In a glass showcase, a Bible printed in Gothic, dating from the 18th century

The steps carry you and the craftsmen in the glass world, common objects coming from the Sibiu area, others imported.  The world is well represented by the guilds at the flags and each specific companies, guilds and crates of different crafts, from the magistrate to make the meetings of the Council.

In an historical Museum is elementary that yu find a Hall of weapons. Iron soldier which is on duty, invites you to come and admire the armor, pieces of military equipment, swords, halberds, lances, fire weapons of the middle ages. In the first room that hasn't been overcome a Horseman in armor. It's great and, of course, the valiant's ...  Once you have gone through various stages of evolution and human experience, beaming to visit ancient Lapidarium. Here you have the stone exhibits from the Roman period, 2nd-3rd century e. n., including statues, altars, votive pieces in relief.

And follows the brightest side of the Museum: the treasure which includes a collection of 1,000 pieces of silverware from the Evangelical churches from Jewelers and numismatic collection belonging to Samuel von Brukenthal's.  After this journey through the history of Sibiu, descend into the courtyard, among them understand Hermani now better the meaning and you walk into the courtyard-garden called "The Martyrs" in the works of figurative sculpture.

The Museum has hosted (and host) various shows, the space and the atmosphere it conveys are suitable for performances of music, dance and theatre. For example, the Madrigal choir performed here in 2007.  Exit on old gate, heavy loaded year, leaving behind a rich history and enter the real world overwhelmed by the emotions felt. Toward the Large Market to enjoy watching the hundreds of pigeons that dot the Small Market or would you walk over the bridge of lies, objects to admire, hand-made jewelry.

I admit it. I was impressed by this museum.
