Why did you choose to go to Sibiu, Romania?

Well it is my home town and I consider it to be the best looking city in Romania (honest Abe) even if not the most party oriented still a great choice for any student who wants to study in Romania.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Non-existent. You do need roughly around 300 euros for accommodation, food and a bit of money to go out. To be comfortable you need around 450-500 euros.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sibiu?

Pretty dull. However there is a growing community of Erasmus students and this makes a lot more interesting. There are a lot of pubs but during the week it is pretty chill.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Sibiu to other students?

Yes.

What is the food like?

Typical romanian food and a lot of fast foods ( unfortunately). There are a lot of restaurants and several student restaurants where the food is really cheap and good.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Sibiu?

Usually you can rent a flat with more people or just stay in a dorm - this has great living conditions.

How much does it cost to live in Sibiu?

Around 300 - normal and 450-500 a very good life :).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language has latin origins with slavic influences. So it is quite difficult to get the grip of it if not of latin origin.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Sibiu from your city?

By foot :) or by bike.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Sibiu?

In one of the many pubs in Piata Mica - especially Aviator and Bohemian pub.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Sibiu?

I would recommend Prima restaurant - quite far away from the city center and in the city center the one next to Farmacia 24 on Nicolae Balcescu.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

http://www.cultura.sibiu.ro/

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Sibiu in the future?

If you want a very cultural city with a very friendly family like atmosphere than Sibiu is the place to go if you want non stop parties go to Cluj Napoca instead :). Eventhough I love my city it is not as vibrant and full of parties as Cluj Napoca which is a student city by definition.
