Seychelles in 5 days

Before I booked this holiday, I was a bit skeptical. Should I go to this place which is supposed to be for couples going to honeymoon and just by myself? Or should I rather choose something else? My curiosity prevailed and I booked myself 5 days on the main island of Seychelles, Mahe. And I loved every bit of them.

What I thought it will be a boring and lonely holiday by myself, turned out to be a delight. I booked my stay at the private villa by the local guy named John and his wife Salifa. All of my days were so fulfilled that I did not feel lonely for a moment.  They cooked delicious food for me every day, so I even gained weight which for me is a major success as I have such a quick metabolism and I digest everything before I even put it in my mouth (laughing by myself as I am typing this).

I managed to overcome one of big phobias as well: driving, believe me or not. I was never on good terms with it. Especially here, where I had to drive on the left side. The easiest way to get around the island is to rent a car and stop where you want to. So first I went for a test ride with John the owner who let me drive his car to the capital of the island, Victoria. I didn’t run over anyone and I was proud of myself (laughing again). I went to the zoo to visit the giant tortoises and loved them a lot. They don’t seem to care about anyone, they just enjoy their life. And they like to be cuddled a lot.

The next day I made my mind and I rented a car. They brought a nice cute Kia Picanto to the doorstep of the villa. I sat inside and I drove carefully out the round and my driving wasn’t that bad. I drove to the end of the island and back. I made some stops on the way. Numerous hidden beaches in tiny bays with the crystal clear sea, so many shades of blue. I arrived to a place called Baie Lazare and I just couldn’t stop admiring how beautiful can something be. Then I went to the Beau Vallon beach which is a bit more crowded with tourists. I enjoyed my time on the beach. All these places were made to be for the snorkelers. So many tropical fish posing for my underwater GoPro.

I did like this every day. I wish I had more time to visit Praslin and La Digue Island which are apparently even more picturesque than Mahe. I could have taken the car and cross over to La Digue with the ferry which turned out to be quite expensive so I gave up the idea and decided to stick to the original plan of exploring Mahe. I guess I will have to leave something for the next time.
