Luces de Navidad

Let's be honest: it turns out to be quite difficult to create a festive spirit and a christmassy atmosphere, if the city you're living in is one of the hottest of whole Europe on average. Nevertheless, the government as well as the Sevillanos do their very best to get you into a festive mood, even thought the temperature remains double-digit all day and all night.

So -what you can do is set the perfect conditions for celebrating the "cold/special time of the year" and forget about the weather. For example: when we meet for dinner with our dutch friends, 3 things are very important: Christmas Songs (yes, we listen to last christmas as well), cookies and Glühwein (mulled wine, mostly self-made, since it turns out to be extremely difficult to find some of it in supermarkets). That's the part we can contribute....

But there is one more thing, that really gets things going: The Christmas-lights. Hard to overlook, sometimes slightly or even way to pungent, but mainly unique and magnificant. Without trying to offend Spanish people, but what you can really see is that sometimes they overshoot the mark, because they don't know where it is set. Differently said: They're just not as cautious as we are. On the other hand, these Christmas-lights fit perfectly into the schema of the andalusian taste, I guess.

In any case, they are special, they are bright and they are... differently colourful, but take a look for yourself. Saludos.
