Beautiful visit to Seville and its monuments
My incredible trip to the beautiful and magnificent Spain has continued to be more incredible and beautiful, especially since one day I decided to visit and discover Andalusia. It's capital, Seville, sparkles with a million lights and is a real hidden treasure to discover. To get there, you have to get a direct train from Seville to Madrid, which you can also use to discover other monuments in other cities which are nearby such as Cordoba, Granada or Malaga. This route is a very beautiful circuit for those who would love to be dazzled by magnificent architecture and a very rich and beautiful heritage; a history filled with masterpieces and breathtaking nature. Despite being very expensive at 87 euros for the train ticket, even the journey was a huge pleasure for me.
Train journey to Seville
The train is really comfortable. At the start of the trip they give you all of the useful information at the centre, such as your destination station or the times you need to know. The search that they carry out is exactly the same as in the airport with quite a strict system and the inside of the train is a real marvel, the seats are big and comfortable, you can put your suitcases above your head and there is sufficient leg room with a foot rest. You should also know that the train even shows the speed in km per hour which makes it even more interesting. Along the journey it follows a direct line alongside farms, its speed was even 275km/h which seemed crazy to me, it was a maximum speed so that you arrived in record time. In addition, they gave us some kits to listen for to things for free, after which I understood it was an American film for cinema lovers and this kit was meant to be plugged into the chair so that you could either enjoy the film or some Spanish radio stations which offered some brilliant songs that you could listen to whilst enjoying the scenery.
Arriving at Seville and discovering la Giralda
Once you arrive at the Station of Seville Santa Justa, all you have to do is take a simple bus which takes you to all parts of the city, can be taken from right outside the station and costs three times less than a taxi. You can then find the monumental centre of the city where you can discover the marvellous and magical monuments, beauty and a hugely preserved historical heritage.
The Giralda was one of the first monuments that I was able to discover. It was a mosque that was converted into a cathedral, the Andalusian style predominates this building, as well as a magnificent architecture which needs to be observed with detail. Each corner of the building was built with immense beauty, the stone was decorated and the building was gigantic. Between the minaret and the rest of the building, you can walk and discover more of the marvellous architecture of this beautiful monument.
It was a mosque before since the South of Spain was under Muslim ownership for a certain time. Historically, it was a Rennaissance period under the Muslim reign over the town, which is called "al andalus" in Arabic, Lots of books describe this time as being one of the strongest and richest in terms of economic development.
Right before the Giralda there is a fountain which you can use in order to photograph the minaret in a more detailed way, as well as the rest of the building. Seville really represents a city where you can admire many magnificent examples of architecture and some very beautiful buildings.
La Giralda
The minaret represents a symbol of Islamic heritage which was established in the city, an immense space and a magnificent architecture. I even noticed that along the street, there were horse-drawn carriages coming and going, showing the typical Andalusian style and the history of this region; since in the past people used horse-drawn carriages to be able to get around the city. I, therefore, decided to do a tour with my friends to discover this beautiful attraction. A tour costs 11 euros and it allows you to see the different monuments and the interesting spots in the city, such as the 6 bridges which run along the city, the huge and magnificent tobacco factory, the theatre which demonstrates the interest of people in art and their passion.
Then we went to the famous emblematic square Plaza de Espana to have a tour in front of the magical fountain and see the architectural buildings which had a very beautiful style; you can feel a festive atmosphere and a joy radiated by the people around us. I was then able to enjoy a flamenco show right in the middle of the street of Seville. The woman wore a gypsy-style dress and the man wore a black costume. The girl danced in a magnificent way and had a perfect hoof rhythm. , their dance was romantic and despite me not knowing their language, their body language allowed me to understand their story; it was really poetic and beautiful. Many people were taking videos, you couldn't not see a show like that in the capital Madrid, for example, you would only be able to see it in a private place and by paying to enter; whereas in the incredible city Seville you can see it for free either on the main street or in the famous and emblematic Plaza de Espana.
The town offers different restaurants where you can benefit from delicious food and dishes which are typical Spanish, such as paella or tapas. I was able to enjoy a marvellous ice-cream in one of the great restaurants on the main road near the Giralda. The prices are attractive and reduced by the beauty of the landscape offered and a real taste is offered to us in the Andalusian environment.
The different points of the city
Along the main avenue, we can admire 6 different points of the city, such as the Triana bridge, which allows you to have a breathtaking view of Seville, along with the river Guadalquivir which goes underneath with boats along the river. In the distance, I could even see sporty people doing kayaking along the river and who also wanted to make the most of the beautiful nature with the ducklings who follow their mum and the mix between the big newly built buildings and the historic buildings such as the Torre del Oro, which presides over the bridge and river. This building is called the golden tower, because it is a super important building which was used, according to the tourist guide by the habitants in the town to spot intruders and to be able to see the new boats which came to the city.
It really feels like Miami in the United States, due to the palm trees and the river as well as the boats and the beautiful landscapes which capture our attention. This superb picture is a testament to the beauty of the landscape which we can discover and the beautiful photos that you are able to take in this picturesque environment.
The boats go up and down the river and the city's hotels are arranged along both sides. You can also do a tour on a tourist boat to be able to see the other side of the city and the different spots along this magnificent view. I have already been told to do a bus tour along the city to be able to admire the beautiful monuments and the Andalusian way of life.
Plaza de Toros
Along the main road of the river, I could also admire the plaza del toros, the bullring, where the bullfighters do their show which is unique to Spain against the bulls, which get angered by the colour red. This unique show can only be seen in Spain, it is a tradition and a beautiful experience.
Plaza de España
When I got to the end of the main street, I was able to admire a magnificent place. This place is the Plaza de Espana which is an emblematic square in Seville and which you most definitely have to visit. It is a kind of castle which has a semi-circle shape with some very beautiful mosaics and transcriptions of the walls. On each part of the building we can see a very beautiful scene which represents one of the Spanish towns such as Zaragoza, Valencia, Toledo, Bilbao, Cordoba... with every detail of the mosaics you can notice a charming inspiration of the geography below to be able to find the town within the country. It is like a kind of historic hunter's or fisherman's map which they would have used to orientate themselves in the country. Several other beautiful scenes with knights can be seen, and a typical and very beautiful Andalusian style too, deeply inspired by the oriental style.
Around this marvellous place there is a kind of artificial river which is in the shape of a large swimming pool with many bridges on either side; which form a central part where you can admire a magical fountain. This fountain allows you to see a show of magnificent colours, especially during the night, with pink, blue and green, an incredible show which can be seen, especially during the night.
A boat trip can also be quite fun, whether with all of the family or as a couple. The river water seems very clear and magnificent and you can go for a boat ride for only 6 euros and be able to admire even more this beautiful landscape which this magnificent place offers. A couples trip could also be very fun and you could discover the calm and beauty of the landscape.
