Bar MariaAdelina

A Aldeia do Meco is a village of Setúbal, county of Sesimbra that is known for being the ''spot'' for summer nights.

The residents have been trying to make the locality one of the main choices of people to spend their vacations for many years. Beach for daytime, bars and restaurants for the night (or vice versa).

The Meco has reached a point of popularity that is almost indispensable to GNR (police) in the streets to control the traffic. There are loads of people on foot in the streets, and also lots of cars. It is very popular.

But during the rest of the year, almost all bars, cafes, restaurants, taverns... are closed. This is because during the coldest season there osn't that much people.

However, this is where the Bar A MariaAdelina comes in.

Maria Adelina opened 30 years ago in the village of Meco, when it was still unlikely to women managing a bar. (Today, she is a successful businesswoman).

It started with a very small space and with the help of the clients it was possible to transform it. She was 26 years old and she was alone. I worked from morning to night, 18 hours a day.

It was frequented by politicians, artists, famous people, even people from the village.

Nowadays it is only 50% of the bar.

It has two terraces and 3 rooms (and bathrooms, of course)

The main room that is the larger one. It's where the dance floor is (with crystal ball and everything), the DJ booth and the bar with drinks. For further more there are sofas and tables.

The second largest room is not so much for dancing but for people to chill. There are more tables and more chairs. It also has access to one of the terraces.

There is a smaller room (which can be seen in the background the first photo) where there are also tables and sofas.

Finally, you have the other terrace at the entrance of the bar with some chairs and it is outdoors, with only one ceiling. It's a kind of porch.

It has all the drinks from Gin's (as seen in the photo) to caipirinhas, mojitos, port wine, beer....

It also has the basic things of a café such as coffee, sparkling water, lemon cariocas...
