What is it like to live in Santiago? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Santiago is very beautiful and it is cheap to live here. On the other hand, transportation could be an issue.

What is the student lifestyle like in Santiago?

There is a lot of "carrete" (party), young people drink "piscola" and attends to "pre" before the party, so basically the party lasts for long.

How much does it cost to live in Santiago?

I don't know how much could cost an apartment because I live with my parents, but is certainly less than in Europe.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Santiago? Is there any advice you can give?

No. You can look on internet pages.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Chilean food is delicious; the most typical dishes are empanadas de pino, pastel de choclo, humitas, mote con huesillo, among others...

Is it good to eat out in Santiago? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I love sushi, and Chilean sushi is particularly awesome. I like to eat in Cantagallo, where you can find lots of sushi restaurants, and low prices. Order tempura roll!

Is the nightlife good in Santiago? Where is good to go?

It is very good. There is a party called "miercoles po" that is for all nationalities students, while there is other parties for locals, such as club eve, sala gente, bar candelaria.

What advice would you give future students heading to Santiago?

Find a place near a metro! Preference escuela militar.
