Why did you choose to go to Santiago, Chile?

I wanted to do my bachelor research abroad and preferably outside of Europe. Chile was an option for me and I took it, because I had read that it is an interesting country with beautiful sights.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My research last for 10 weeks, after which I will travel through Chile for another three weeks or so. My University gives me €65,-/week during the 10 weeks I am working on my study.

What is the student lifestyle like in Santiago?

For as far as I have seen there are not much houses especially for students. I have lived in a house with three other international students and our neighbours are also international students, so that is really nice. However the lifestyle is really different from what I was used to in the Netherlands.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Santiago to other students?

Santiago is a nice city and it is an interesting experience to be here. I would recommend some knowledge on the Spanish language, since very few locals speak English.

What is the food like?

There are a lot of international restaurants so there is something for everyone.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Santiago?

I stayed in a hotel the first four nights I got to Chile and looked for an accommodation by making a profile for myself on a site called compartodepto.cl. I got reaction to it very quickly and found the accommodation I am currently living in.

How much does it cost to live in Santiago?

It is comparable to European costs.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Santiago from your city?

Intercontinental flight.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Santiago?

Bellavista.
