A 2008 summer like another one in the north of Tenerife

I’d heard about the Canary Islands in general and about the Mount Teide in particular. That’s why my girlfriend and me decided to go to Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the summer of 2008. We had some connections there, we didn’t have any alternative, so we went to the north part of the island. In this part, as I have been able to see, is where the sand is black (in the south the sand is white, though). To be honest, I didn’t like the beaches as much as I thought I would. I’m used to the Galician beaches, which sand is clean. I know that this is not the same everywhere! Despite the beaches weren’t the best, going for a walk around the port was lovely :) The weather was one of the things that surprised me the most. During the day it was quite warm; however, it was clouded many of the days that we spent there. It was strange, but finally I got used to it. It also made me feel surprised the amount of sellers that where in the streets. They offered you everything (carpets, pictures with parrots… everything!) Another thing I liked a lot was visiting the Mount Teide. We went by bus, a bus that took us to the highest part (not taking into account the part in which you have to take an aerial tramway against payment). That day we went there, it was reaaaaaally hot, but it was great! We made many pictures and the people, with whom we shared a beautiful journey were kind. There was a guest house in which we could spend the whole day, but finally we didn’t stay there (we had already spent a lot of money haha!). About the south of the island, I only can say that it is much more rich and more tourist than the north, where there are more means of transports, seems to be more like “a city”, and is bigger. Nevertheless, I think that we have done the right thing visiting the north, because the south was very noisy and there were many typical things. In the north everything was more “pachanguero” :P
