Experience in San Jose, United States by Lorena
What is it like to live in San Jose? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
San Jose has achieves a pretty good balance between metropolitan and residential. In the downtown there are numerous things to do (concerts, plays, nightclubs) and places to visit (museums, historic buildings - a few - etc). At the same time, it maintains a tranquil atmosphere for residents - in comparison to San Francisco and Santa Cruz. Being in the Bay Area makes it culturally diverse and vibrant. However, it's a city mostly for people looking to settle down or find a job in a tech company.
What is the student lifestyle like in San Jose?
For students, San Jose is the perfect area to live in a safe, clean city. However, it lacks much of the touristic scenery/live events happening in its neighboring cities of San Francisco and Santa Cruz, so it could definitely come off as a little boring.
How much does it cost to live in San Jose?
Housing is expensive compared to the average US cost of living as well as most of California. A two-bedroom apartment may cost an average of $2000/month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in San Jose? Is there any advice you can give?
Not really. San Jose has a good mixture of apartments/houses spread out. My advise would be just to look for the area you want to live in and google apartments/houses near by, you will most likely find something within your budget and desired destination.
