Experience in San Francisco, United States by Kass
What is it like to live in San Francisco? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
San Francisco is a big and beautiful city. It is busy and I do not recommend to drive if you have to park your car downtown. The parking spots are rare and the parking garages expensive. But you have buses and Bart who deserves the city very well and it is pretty fast to go to a point to another one. People are nice. You have the part of the city who is really busy with businesses and the other part near the golden gate park and ocean beach who is really peaceful. You also have nice hikes. The weather is windy and kinda cold but you can have nice and hot days. But I recommend to take a jacket no matter what! You can shop at the Westfield mall or for the luxury boutiques go to union square. You also have affordable shops like forever 21 or h&m. A lot of delicious spots to eat. Mexican, french, american, Indian, Thai, Peruvian etc... I've never had a bad experience eating in the city. A big choice of small restaurants from all around the world. You cannot be disappointed by the food. San Francisco is a wonderful city and i promise that it will be a good experience.
What is the student lifestyle like in San Francisco?
Rent are expensive but you can find good deals with a couple of roommates. You don't need a car because buses and bart are enough to move around. Even if you want to go on the other side of the bay bridge, in the east bay (Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville). Happy hours are fun and a good time to grab some food and drinks with friends to socialize and relax.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
So many good restaurants from all around the world. My favorite food is sushi and it's affordable. You also have to try the Cheesecake Factory in union square. Enjoy a Cheesecake and the view!
What places would you recommend visiting in San Francisco?
Golden Gate Bridge, golden gate park, ocean beach, union square, Alcatraz, pier 39, fisherman warf, at&t park, twins peak, Castro, Dolores park, the painted ladies...
Is the nightlife good in San Francisco? Where is good to go?
The marina is a nice area to go out. You can grab some pizza and go out to some bars like Matrix or East side west. Folsom is also a nice area with clubs like temple, hue, mezzanine (concert venues).
What advice would you give future students heading to San Francisco?
Save money as much as you can before to leave but get ready for a great and unforgettable experience
