What is it like to live in Saint Petersburg? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's been 4 years since I moved to Saint Petersburg. Despite the weather, which sometimes can be cold and windy, the city itself is wonderful. It becomes especially charming at night and in summer we have the bridge openings, lots of places are open 24 hours.

Saint Petersburg is also called "northern Venice", 'cause are lots of rivers and canals. The best architects were invited to work here.

How much does it cost to live in Saint Petersburg?

It's relatively cheaper than Moscow, but slightly more expensive compared to other Russian cities.

If you have to rent a room/flat, you'll have to pay more, but briefly:

• Room: from 10.000 roubles.
• Transport: around 1.000 rubles (students can get a special card for metro and other state public transport, which is with significant discount).
• Food: on average 8.000-9.000 roubles.
• Connection: almost 500 roubles.

Everything is per month.

Be careful with the exchange rate.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Saint Petersburg? Is there any advice you can give?

If you don't speak Russian, it might be a tough task to do.

Have a buddy who could support you and provide with information.
