European Voluntary Service beyond a stay in a foreign country

This program offeres young give Europeans the chance to work as volunteers within or outside Europe. The aim is to develop values such as solidarity, understanding or tolerance among young and motivated people.

To be part you have to be aged 18 to 30 and the three involved parts need to cooperate to make possible the EVS project: the volunteer, a sending organization and a host organization. One of the organizations needs to take the coordinating role and apply for an EU grant.

Participation is free for the volunteers, who also receive insurance cover, allowance for the duration of the project, board and lodging. This kind of volunteering projects can be carried out either in group (of up to 30 participants) and individually.

Many different projects can be part of ‘The European Voluntary Service’: culture, youth, sports, social care, cultural heritage, arts, etc. Although, they all have in common their European and intercultural learning dimension.
