Critelli Campus, Rome

Currently sitting with Giulia at John Cabot. So far Italy has been a life changing experience. I’ve met someone who I can consider a best friend and lover, lived with and made friends with some of the best people I’ve ever met and enjoyed broadening my horizons in one of the more cultured places on the planet. Jigglypuff. Today I went with Giulia to her interview as a wedding planner. It was in the Pareoli region of Roma, near Villa Borghese. While she was being interviewed I walked around Roma and read some of the Alchemist, just taking in the scenery. After she was done, we had plans to go Segway around Villa Borghese. First obstacle: I was carrying around a spare pair of shoes for Giulia since she had conducted her interview in heels. Heels and cobblestone streets do not mix. Completing the pit stop successfully, we walked into Villa Borghese itself. We stopped at a café for a quick bite to eat, ordering a Focaccia with Salami and a frozen Machiato. Birds flew around us even though we were inside, which was a little uncomfortable but nothing too much. We then proceeded to walk around the Villa for the next 2 ½ hours looking for a Segway rental stand. Being unsuccessfully in this venture, we took in the beautiful views and architecture the park had to offer, stopping occasionally to people watch and listen to the nearest musician (they are everywhere within the park). Planning on grocery shopping tonight (Giulia needs food, write it down) for somecenaand snacksper domani pomeriggio. We found the Segway rental place at the end of the day and decided to go back tomorrow early. Miss my friends :( but having a great time over here. Looking forward to a long and productive summer.

Bringing ideas to life. How can you take an idea fully imagined inside of your head and bring it into reality? What if that idea turns out to be harmful? What if it the idea is revolutionary, but the person with the idea doesn’t have the confidence to bring that idea into reality? Are the implications of the idea understood? Would the idea and the creator attract others to help expand the idea? Would one have an open mind towards change within certain aspects of their idea?  Or would one be inflexible and strict with maintaining the original vision? State of mind currently.

Extremely skeptical of just about everything I’ve grown up being taught. Questions are much more powerful than opinions, since facts seems to be in short supply. Is America a true democracy? How much does work matter in one’s life? Do we truly need a college degree? Does being a productive member of today’s society go hand in hand with the best interests of men/women in the long run? Where are we headed as a society? Do we even know? Do we even care? How much of the media is controlled by major corporations? Are we being brainwashed into believing the world is a chaotic place? Is the world truly that scary and chaotic (nope, but the American media would love for you to believe so)? How much can be learned watching television, scrolling through Facebook, or googling vs. going out and finding out for yourself? Why are we so driven towards success in society? Why is failure viewed as bad? Why do we look up to people with financial wealth? Yes they have money to do cool things, go cool places, and meet cool people, but why is that better than other ways of life? What if we appreciated where we were born in life? What if jealousy didn’t exist? WHY THE FUCK DOES MATERIAL POSSESION MATTER TO SO MANY PEOPLE??? How come one piece of metal with 4 wheels is valued more and sought after more than a different piece of metal with 4 wheels? Even if one is better for everyone else around, why will people still try and possess the one that will cost them more? Why isn’t wealth shared more?
