Life in a small city (village)
About Fere-en-Tardenois (too small even to be listed). Can be quite interesting to try get along with mostly arrogant French people, but in villages can be found also many good exceptions. However, any public transport is expensive (even less than 100 km will cost approx. EUR 20). Therefore, better to be open to hitchhiking (even not knowing fluent French, it is possible to get along), bicycling or renting a car. Life in small towns is quiet (people tend to stay at home during late evenings/nights) so if there is something different or they see someone during that time, it most likely will become a part of their talking. People like to talk about each other. Anoher thing that regards most of the French - they feel superior over any non-native and due to that tend to see all the mistakes or differences. Yet - the food and drinks (wine, champage) is probably one of the best in the world due to wide grape and other plantations all around.
