Swimming with a Pretzel? Possible!

Some days after my birthday my Mum arrived in Puerto de la Cruz in order to visit me a couple of days. Even if I was used to discuss a lot with her during holidays I was happy that she came and that there was someone I could pass time with.

She arrived in the evening and the whole day I was so excited. As usual if one's waiting for something nice, time was not passing by at all. But finally, I finished work and went home. I tidied up a bit and then she sent me a message that she had arrived in the hotel. As it was only 2 minutes from my appartment I went there quickly. Even if the first sentence I heard was a complaint about the hotel room, I was so happy to see her! She brought me birthday presents from my friends in Germany and something quite cool - a pretzel to swim with. As I am from Bavaria that's so amazing! After having seen all my presents we decided to go out, walk a bit around the city and eat something.

It was very nice to have someone to show around - after one month I already knew some nice places in the city - and to talk with. Of course, there were the other girls, but I didn't know them so well yet and talking with your mother is always something different. As always when she was in another country she loved the beach and the sea, the hot weather - even if it was very hot in Germany too, at that time. But we were tired, so we drank something at the hotel bar and then I went home to sleep. I didn't have days off, so the next day I had to work.

After work I went directly to the hotel and found my mother at the pool - of course. As she didn't like the black sand at the beach in the North of the island she prefered to stay at the hotel pool while I was working - oh, I was so jealous! So we went out to find something to eat as the day before and as it was earlier we were looking at the shops and things like that. Even if there was so much to do at the island she wanted to relax, so the plans for the weekend were easy - saturday we wanted to visit the Loro Parque and sunday the sea water swimming pool

So Saturday morning we started in direction of the Loro Parque - the most famous tourist attraction of the island. It was a way of around 40 minutes by foot and as my mom didn't want to take the free shuttle service we went. And went. and went. Finally, we arrived and started the experience. The park was beautiful! I have seen many zoos, but this one was more a large jungle than a zoo. The shows we saw were amazing and after more than 6 hours we still haven't seen everything but we were so tired and it was so hot that we decided to return to Puerto - this time with the free shuttle service. ;)

The evening we ate something, did some shopping and then we went to the hotel room in order to inflate the swimming pretzel. That was harder than we thought before so we went out again to buy an inflator. It still took us half an hour but then it was ready - it looked so cool! I couldn't wait using it the next day in the swimming pool.

So as planned, the next day we went to the sea water swimming pools called Lago Martíanez. As it was sunday there were a lot of people waiting in front of it. They were watching me curiously with my huge pretzel, especially the children. When we entered finally, I was fascinated by how large that bath was. There were several swimming pools and bistros and we didn't know where to go. We chose a spot next to the wall to the sea and went directly to test the pretzel in the water. It was so cool and there were still people watching us curiously. We passed the whole day in the swimming pool, sunbathing, eating, sleeping and swimming and finally left at about 5pm to shower and eat something. The next day I would have to work again so I had to cook as well.

The four other days I could just pass the evening with my mother because I was working, so it was mainly going out to eat, shopping, talking. But it was nice to come home from work and have somebody waiting there. Because I was really missing my boyfriend and my friends, so it was good to have her here. At the last evening we wanted to go to a nice fish restaurant right next to the sea. But as I came home there was no water in my appartment and I didn't know why. I called the agency but she just told me that she couldn't do anything for me, I had to wait. That destroyed the whole evening because I started to discuss with my mother and well. The atmosphere was destroyed and full of tension.

That was when the problems of my appartment really started and I noticed that it was not as easy to live in another country. But that's another story.
