Goodbye and hello

Of course, the last evening with my Dad passed by so quickly! We just went to have dinner at the restaurant and had some drinks at the hotel bar, because it was raining. I tried to enjoy every minute but finally I had to go to bed as I had to work the next day. I decided to come to the hotel room of my Dad before work to say goodbye. So at 8am I was there, they gave me some things they still had for me and 20 minutes later I had to leave.

It was a bit harder for me to say goodbye to my Dad, because I've always been Daddy's girl and I knew that I would miss him and also his girlfriend a lot. But it was like it was and that's also part of a semester abroad.

The following days continued as usual - working, eating, sports and sleeping. Sometimes I met the other girls and we had dinner in the city centre, eating some nice Tapas or having cocktails. The 17th of october it was "Noche Blanco" in Puerto de la Cruz, a night where all the shops stayed opened until midnight or even 2am and the whole city was full of little markets and places where you could buy food. Furthermore, the program was filled with workshops, artistic spectacles and music. It was party around the whole city! So we met to have dinner in the evening and went around Puerto to see everything. There were many people selling handmade products, like clothes, bags, jewlery and decoration. I found a nice little shop where a woman sold bookmarks with lovely self-painted figures on them, like for example superheroes or disney princesses. I bought two, one with Little Red Riding Hood and one with Cinderella. She also had bags, notebooks and mugs, but I cannot buy too many things here, because I have to bring everything back to Germany with only 25 kg of luggage. That's such a pity! But it also saves me a lot of money.. ;)

So after having seen all the food, handmade stuff and flower shops in the streets, we had a cocktail in a little bar in the centre and listened a bit to the nice Canarian music. It was like being a tourist, just enjoying the holidays there. A bit later, I received a message from my boyfriend who told me that he finally had booked a flight to visit me!!! That was the message of the day, because until that moment I wasn't sure if he would be able to come. I was more than happy immediately. He would come in two weeks!

After coming home I couldn't sleep because I was so excited. I hadn't seen my boyfriend for 3 months now and I really missed him, because he was not the person to write a lot and he called about 1 time per month. So I planned how many days off I could take in order to have as much time as possible with him. He couldn't tell me yet when he would fly back to France, but I was sure that he would stay for about one week. So I planned my holiday and we would have 6 days completely together. Aw, I was looking forward to that so much! And it was only 10 days away. So I thought about what we could do and things like that and couldn't stop dreaming the whole day.

Until that one day arrived. I had always had problems with my appartment - the electricity, no internet, no German TV etc. And after a technicien had come and told me what the problem with the electricity was, after 7 weeks there was still nothing done. I couldn't shower and watch TV afterwards or dry my hair in the bathroom because the electric connections were so bad that it shut down when I was using the wrong devices at the same time. The owner of the appartment told me to fix that but after 3 months in the appartment it kept on like that. So I didn't pay rent for the third month, waiting for the things to work and it annoyed me so much because I had always to go to the agency after work, ask if there was something new etc. and people started to get into my appartment during worktime in order to fix problems (but nothing was fixed in fact).

That one day when I came home there was a large hole in the outside wall of my bathroom. I could see it because it was directly next to my appartment door. I was shocked, but as I found out 5 minutes later, it didn't affect anything in the appartment. But anyway, I called the agency and asked why there was that hole. She told me that they might have to renovate the bathroom because there was a problem with the tubes, but she couldn't tell me anything for sure yet. So I had to wait. But the same day, some time after I had showered, suddenly my water didn't work again. This time, I knew where to go in order to open it again but I wanted to know who it was. But well, I couldn't find it out, so I had to wait, because if they had to renovate the bathroom I would have to move to another appartment.

I went to the agency nearly every day, because my boyfriend would come the week after that and I didn't want to have any problem like moving or no water while he was here. I just wanted to enjoy the time with him. But as it is in Spain (and especially on Tenerife), everything is very slow, people don't care and you have to wait, ask, wait and ask. Finally, she told me that I wouldn't have to move because they could wait with the reforms until february and that my electricity should work in 2 or 3 days. I was happy about that but still sceptic, because people from agencies use to tell you things just that you stop annoying them. But anyway, I had to wait. And that was hard, because I was so excited  that my boyfriend would come and that we would pass one week together!
