Erasmus - 4 months in beautiful Paris!
Hi, my name is Lussinga and in 2017, between September and December I did Erasmus in Paris!
About accommodation: I shared a tiny studio in 14éme with a friend. It was really difficult and tiring finding a place to live and after a while, I was blessed to have a friend whose uncle had a free studio and me and my friend stayed there. I paid 300 euros/month but the normal price was 600 euros (because we were friends with the niece, they let us do that way). What I can recommend to someone who's searching for a place in Paris: don't desperate, try talking to someone who already lived in Paris or knows someone who lives there for recommendations and do not pay anyone in advance before you actually see the place.
About Paris School of Business: In general, I liked the school. The ambient is amazing, a lot of students are from other countries so you really feel the diversity and most of them live in Paris for more than 1 year because they decided to do their full studies there, so they know the city well and can help you. It is a small school, some classes were really worth attending, the only thing I did not like it was that all classes were mandatory. But still, I and my friends managed to travel everywhere we wanted.
About Paris: Anyone who already had the pleasure to visit Paris knows it's easy to fall in love with the city and it was no different for me. The buildings, the food, the culture, the city itself! I admit that, because it was my first time in Paris, I was not sure what to expect. But when you start to discover the amazing places, the touristy and non-touristy ones you just feel amazed. I won't forget the first time I saw the tower shinning and the second and the other times because you just can't look away. In general, I found people nice, I don't speak french and I was able to communicate by only learning the basic things, how to ask for something, how to ask for help, how to greet whenever you enter a place. I felt safe walking the streets at night, even alone (of course it depends on the place, but I had no problem). Yes, Paris is not a cheap place to live, but if you can find a decent accommodation plus the scholarship ( I received 300 euros/month) you'll be able to enjoy the time there. What I can recommend: get to know all the city because there are too many amazing places to point out, try as much food as you can because french food is delicious and lost yourself taking long walks beside the river. I plan to come back because I had an amazing time!
