Why did you choose to go to Prague, Czech Republic?

I have been with my classmates here before for a schooltrip and I really enjoyed my time in Prague as a tourist. Also I wanted to study somewhere near my country. I had an other reason: I love beer, so I think I don't have to explain this.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I came here at the end of February and will go back at the end of June. I have 1200 euros for these months.

What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?

It's really awesome. There are so many places to go, parks to lay on the grass, pubs to drink a beer (or more :D), clubs to go to parties... The city is beautiful, here the life is calm, but if you want to have fun for sure you will find your place.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Prague to other students?

Of course. Prague is a really good choice for study abroad. My university is Univerzita Jana Amose Komenského, a small private school and it's easy to pass the exams. The professors know we are here to enjoy our time, so they don't give as lot to study.

What is the food like?

For me it was a little bit tasteless as I got used to Hungarian cuisine.

How did you find your accommodation?

My university helped me. They offered a place in Koleje Strahov.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

I had to pay 2500 CZK per month. When I arrived I had to pay also 800 CZK for internet, 300 CZK for insurance, 150 CZK for electricity and 2500 CZK deposit. The dorm is not so good, our room is ugly and small, we have common bathroom for girls and boys, also common toilet, that's weird, but we got used to these things. We were thinking about moving to a flat but they are more expensive, 10000 CZK per month. If you want to go to pubs and clubs often, for sure you need more money.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

My uni offered us a Czech language course for beginners but you learn only basic stuff. It's better to have Czech friends and ask them to teach you some words and sentences.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Prague from your city?

From Budapest the cheapest way is travelling by bus. There are more opportunities, you can travel with Student Agency buses or with Eurolines buses. I prefer Eurolines because we travel at night and I can sleep the whole way.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Prague?

There are lots of clubs here. I like the club Futurum, they play retro music but really good ones. I know that there are rock parties, I want to visit them soon. I don't really like Sasazu, it's far away from the center and there are often some fights. Roxy is pretty famous but the music is strange. You have to prepare for expensive entrance almost everywhere. The best choice are maybe Erasmus parties, they are sometimes free and the atmosphere is friendly.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Prague?

There is a small restaurant near my university but I don't remember its name. There is a menza in Strahov, the food is ok there.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

You can find historical memories everywhere. You have to visit the castle, the old town square, Petrin hill. It's amazing.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Prague in the future?

If you have the opportunity, don't be shy to come here. This is the best place for Erasmus students. ;)
