What is it like to live in Prague? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Prague is very old with many historical and touristic sights to see. The Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and the Old Town Square belongs to the most visited ones. Prague was recently placed among top 10 safest cities. It is not too big for those who are used to live in a metropolys like Moscow or New York, but there are pretty good possibilities to live quite well and not too expensive, eat the Czech cuisine, meet interesting people, have fun, have a good portion of culture - well, it is our capital city.

What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?

Students who live in dormitories keep much together and have experiences of good ability to get everywhere - Prague has cool and well solved infrastructure of public transport. Every university has its dorms and mostly it is in a commutable way to get there, max. 40 minutes. I am local and have my own flat so I don't know how students in dorms live exactly, especially foreigners, but it is quite a party life, you know... During the day there are many places to learn at, cafés, parks, ... and then in the evening to go to a pub for a nice Czech beer or a glass of wine. Even playing music and singing belongs to ... let's say... quite a normal student free time activities. People go for fitness or play other sports, go to cinemas, concerts, theatre (there are nice student discounts somewhere and sometimes), to exhibitions... I think it is similar like at the other world cities. If you don't want to really live a bit of Czech life and go canoing (more frequently than elsewhere in the world), mushrooming, playing darts in the pub with beér (or watching football), and spending much time with this aktivity. Young people of course go often to parties in clubs such as Karlovy lazne - this is the best known one.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Czech traditional food is quite fatty:
Knedlo vepro zelo - pork with sauerkraut and dumplings
svickova - bef with vegetable sauce, served also with dumplings
rizek - similar to Wienerschnitzel
smazeny syr - fried cheese, usually with potatoes (brambory) orfrench fries (hranolky) or special Czech small balls made of potato pastry and fried (krokety).
parky - sausages
langos - pancake pastry with cheese, catchup and optional garlick
nakládany hermelin - blue cheesepickled in oil and onion, served with bread and sometimes chilly peppers
utopenec - sausage pickled in vinigar and onion served with bread, sometimes with chilly peppers
The two last are very common in pubs where you can have beer.
But of course, you can find Mc Donalds and KFC even here which makes all sure. :D Pizza, hamburger, pasta, no problem. The people who cook often go on the style of healthcare, too. You can find even lighter and less fatty options round here.

What places would you recommend visiting in Prague?

Prague Castle and the Cathedral of st. Vit, Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square, Venceslas Square, Charles Square, walk in the centre is not too long and is fine. St. Nicolas church, Tynsky church. Valdstein gardens, Vysehrad, Letohradek Hvezda (a renaissance castle), Expo Letnany.

Is it good to eat out in Prague? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

U Fleku, U Pinkasu, U Glaubicu, Satlava, Malostranska beseda, Na Smetance (a typical Czech but not very expensive).

Is the nightlife good in Prague? Where is good to go?

Night life is quick and there are quite some places near the centre. The best are Karlovy Lazne (see above).
