My Erasmus Experience in Prague, Czech Republic. By Karina

Why did you choose to go to Prague, Czech Republic?

From what I had previously researched, I saw that it was a pretty city. And also, because economically speaking there are similar prices to my country and this was something that I also had to keep in mind.

How long does the grant last? How much money do you get for help?

It lasted about 4 months and I got the money throughout the first month that I was in Prague. It was about 1500 euros, for one semester.

What's the student environment like in Prague?

It's really good with the people in the same position as us (Erasmus students). Because the Czech people aren't very sociable.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Prague to other students?

Of course, it's a unique experience.

What's the country's food like?

Well, I mostly ate at home and when I ate out I ate McDonalds or sandwiches. There were a few times that I went to a restaurant, it's not bad, but also I can't say that I loved it.

How easily did you find accommodation in Prague?

Relatively easily, through an agency that rents apartments.

Plane.

Where would you recommend for a night out in Prague?

James Dean, Sasazu, Roxy, Mecca, Cross Club, Café Louvre, Harley's bar...

And eating out in Prague? Can you name your favourite places?

Ah the Bageterie, close to the D. Charles Bridge, has excellent restaurants.

And in terms of cultural visits?

There are visits to other cities in neighbouring countries (Austria, Poland, Budapest and Germany).

Do you have any advice you'd like to give to future students in Prague?

Yes, don't miss classes in the first few weeks at least. Because this is when the teachers are going to explain everything, work, presentations... If your plan is also to take several subjects, you must do this. And also, have fun!
