Lucie with Lucy
Since December I was looking forward to another concert in the Czech rock group called Lucie. I am bound to say that this year is favorable for going to the concerts as my top MUSE came to Prague and yesterday I experienced my favorite Czech group Lucie. Firstly, I should explain why there is a headline Lucie with Lucie. The first word Lucie belongs to the name of the group. The second one is for my amazing friend Lucy.
We met together at the university and even though we were not best friends since beginning it is one of my closest friends now. The first semester at the university she did not go out so often so I did not have many opportunities to get closer to her except for the introduction week. Fortunately, it was shown that she loves going out and being with friends more than everything and thanks to it we have a bunch of memories together. She is especially kind to everybody, she is responsible but at the same time she likes going crazy and party. Also, we have a lot of things in common. We are a kind of workaholics as we always prefer working a lot, and consequently, spending money on traveling. We used to go running together as well. Sometimes it can be fun to listen to us arguing because we both like proving we are right but at least we have a lot of discussions.
Unfortunately, when we decided to go for an Erasmus program we could not see each other every day as we were used to and we could just skype or visit each other in another country, which is not an easy task for us. Moreover, she went in the winter semester and I went in the summer semester. When a whole year finally passed and we could spend more time together I probably decided to go studying in Amsterdam so our friendship will probably experience again hard times. Nevertheless, I believe that distance can not have a bad influence on us and we will stick together wherever we are located.
Back to the topic - we started to have an amazing tradition – instead of buying presents for our birthday (we have it almost in the same week), we started to buy each other tickets for a concert. Last year we went to the gig of Ed Sheeran and it was incredible. This year we bought tickets for the concert by Lucie. I have already seen them alive during Rock for People and it was an unforgettable experience. That´s why I did not hesitate at all when we noticed they have a concert. Moreover, they do not normally play these days. It was a special concert for their thirtieth birthday. We decided to go in winter and the concert was yesterday - 1st of July. It was in stadium Eden and it was the first time when the Czech group had a performance there!
This day started awful. It was my first day at my new job Provident. I got up around 5 am because of it and I went directly from Hradec to Prague. I was looking forward to my new job. Unfortunately, when I came they told me to arrange some contracts according to the numbers and when I finished my lunch they told me to go home as they did not have any work for me. It was my fault probably because they wanted me to start the 11th of July but when I said I was free the week before they told me to come earlier but as it was proven I had nothing to do there. I hate this. I still have a long list of things to do and I do not want to lose my time by traveling by bus for nothing. Hopefully, after my week in Italy, they will have interesting tasks for me to work on.
When I came home I was working a little bit on my report which is still in progress and I could not wait going to the concert already. We agreed on meeting with Tyna and Lucy at Naplavka in Prague – our favorite chilling place in summer. The weather was amazing – too hot. When I was walking to the prearranged place I was watching the river Vltava in Prague and I have to admit it is a stunning city.
We met at the restaurant which we normally use only for toilets because at Naplavka there are horrible toilets. Later we moved to the river and I brought some beers to drink. Unfortunately, Tyna did not want to drink and Lucy had antibiotics so she did not want to drink either which was quite unusual. We started to talk about everything with the girls and I did not want to leave. When we go to the party we never have enough time to talk about everything we want to and this time when we were only three we did.
It was the first time when I did not insist on going to the concert at least one hour before the warm-up band, which showed to be a mistake. At that time we had no idea what would happen. As I already experienced this concert in the first row two years ago I was not in a rush. The warm-up band started at 4 pm already and the concert by Lucie was supposed to be at 7:45 pm. We found our team but as we were probably interested in our conversation we missed it and we took another one. I started to be a little bit nervous when I realized we had only 30 minutes before the beginning of the concert and the tram was crowded. We also had to go to the toilets to enjoy the concert without breaks. It was already the time of the start and we were still outside. It took us some time to find the right entrance. When I saw hundreds of people not moving I already regretted going late.
I could not believe it. The line was not moving at all. There were so many people. Our tickets were for standing so we could not change the entrance. We were queuing and it was already 8 pm! Why did not we go two hours earlier? At that time I would prefer waiting in a crowd inside than being squeezed with other people still outside the arena. It was even worse when they started to play the first song without us. How come? I was a hundred percent sure they would not start playing without all people and there were still a lot of them outside. I mean I know they have the right to start on time but we were still in a line and there was nothing to do. I was already scared that there was a chance we had to stay at this place whole concert. We were moving but slowly. They stopped playing for a while. I was confused. Now everything is clear. I found out from newspapers Lucie had problems with acoustic and they were forced to stop playing and start again. That´s the reason why there was a quiet pause.
It took us ages to get inside. We were still slowly moving but we were in the middle of the crowd. There was no way back. We saw some people escaping out but I was surprised they gave up their place for going to the toilet. When we finally got inside the arena I knew we got into a scrape. Even though we were inside, unfortunately, we were still part of the line and there was no place in standing area anymore. We saw nothing from our place. When we saw free places for sitting we would change it immediately but it was impossible. I have to say it was such a bad organization. I know it was our mistake we were late but there was no place for everybody. Why did they sell so many tickets? I was angry with the organization a lot. We had to fight our way through the crowd.
Finally, we could see the stage and we were better off than other people who were not even able to see the stage because they were around the corner and there was no place for them anymore. Some of them even left the concert because of it! We pushed a few people to have better places and we finally found a small step where I was standing to be the taller whole time.
At that time I thought we could not enjoy the concert at all. I was mistaken. For sure we could have had a better experience being closer to the podium. Although we both loved the group so much that nothing ruined our experience. It was enough to be together and sing all the songs to be happy. That´s another advantage of the Czech concert - there is nothing better than singing with the group whole time. I was impressed when I saw how many people came. The stadium was full except for a few seat places. The only annoying thing was a railing in the middle of the standing area. I had no idea why they placed it like this but when I wanted to see the stage I had half of my view behind the railing and it was awful. For people staying further from the stage, it must have been even worse.
When we were trying to get closer to the stage they were already playing the song Pohyby (Movements). It was one of my favorite ones so I was already in a good mood when we were on our way to get closer to the stage. I forgot to tell you an important thing - how my love for this group started. I think it all begun with a musical with the same name – Lucie. Of course, I already heard many songs from this group when I was small but I did not pay much attention to it. When I saw a leaflet about the musical I had to see it. The first reason was that I generally love musicals and secondly because I already knew the music of musical which is always better.
My first experience seeing this musical was a blast. I could not get enough of it. The main signer was Václav Noid Bárta and I felt in love with his voice. I don´t know why I heard many critics about the story of the music but for me, it was all perfectly performed. To evaluate it I could admit that the story is unreal and quite simple but I already found a lot of interesting thoughts from it and I just admire all the songs played there. When the group has a rock concert sometimes it is difficult to hear properly the voice and the melody but in the musical, it was not hard at all. The music and singing were clear and I could entirely enjoy the musical performance. Also, they had a special dancing effect synchronized with the music which amazed me a lot. To make it short I loved the music so much that I decided to go there all over again. I managed to do it fourth times and except for the disappointment when Noid Bárta was not there it was awesome every time. I felt sad when I found out they stopped playing this musical when I was in France. I hope they are going to play it again and when they do it I will be the first one buying the ticket! I can not even describe my feelings about it. This musical was for me the way how to wonderfully relax and it gave me keen pleasure. I just felt perfect when I went there and it always made me emotional.
This concert was a chance to remind my favorite songs again and the main singer in the group has an incredibly unique voice. They were playing all the songs I love. It was quite different than the concert of MUSE because we could sing almost every song. It made our experience even better. One of my favorite ones was Dotkni se ohně (Touch the fire) and during this song, there was a real fire. I was surprised that the concert was amazing even though we had such a bad place and the organization was awful. When the dark came there was an even better atmosphere and it perfectly suited to the romantic lovely song – Chci zas v tobě spát (I want to sleep in you again). At the end of the concert, they tried to make it longer because they left. After they let us applaud strongly until they came again. After that, they left again but I was still hoping they could come again because they had not played their famous songs – Panic (I am almost virgin) and Medvídek (Teddy Bear). It was suspenseful. We were clapping our hands and shouting. Then they finally came and they played a few more songs. I felt totally happy.
The only thing I regretted was that I did not hear my best song from them – Svítání (Daybreak). I don’t even know who I should blame for because I don’t know if they played it when we were in a line or if they decided not to play it. Nevertheless, I had such an amazing night yesterday. After the concert, I crashed at Lucy´s place and we were talking a lot until 1 is. It is feeling beyond description to be together again! And we have a whole week in Italy together ahead!
