Experience in Prague, Czech Republic by Veronika

What is it like to live in Prague? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

In my opinion Prague is an awesome city to live in. I would higly recommend it for erasmus exchange progam, because it is the right city for young people. If to compare it with the other capitals of European countries; it is really not so expensive and not so dangerous. The city is historical, very beautiful; amazing for people who loves to be daily amazed by the architecture and the beauty of the old buildings.

What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?

Prague definitelly does not miss students life. There are lots of activities and possibilities for night life to; but the truth is that person has to look for it, because they are not so well promoted. On the other hand; it would be nice to have more erasmus activities though:)

How much does it cost to live in Prague?

This is very hard to say. It depends how you want to live there. If you live at a dorm and you dont party too much; I would say you can easily manage to live with the budget of 250 Euro for a month: that's the average.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Prague? Is there any advice you can give?

No; not that difficult. There are enough of school dorms in the city; but one needs to apply for them quite soon. You can find your flat or flat sharing on the internet.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is quite good. If you like to eat a lots of meat; then its the right place for you:) Knedlo Vepro Zelo 100%

What places would you recommend visiting in Prague?

Every place:) I recommend to get lost and try to find yourself because Prague is not so huge to really get lost and this way you can really find a lots of amazing things and meet some interesting people.

Is it good to eat out in Prague? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I dont eat out in Prague often.

Is the nightlife good in Prague? Where is good to go?

Oh yeah:) Nebe, Roxy, The Church; Harley' s, James Bean; :::anywere

It' s not that difficult to get back home at night and that' s what is an advantage in going out in Prague

What advice would you give future students headed to Prague?

Don't be shy! People from Czech Republic in general are quite shy to start the conversation. Sometimes they might give an impression that they don' t care about you; but usually that' s not truth: students are pretty excited to meet some foreign students and it' s quite a pity if you stay locked only inside of a group of erasmus students:) (writing this because of my own erasmus experience).... Nashledanou!:)
