Experience in Prague, Czech Republic by Petra
What is it like to live in Prague? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
The city is full of sights with lot to see. But even if you are not fun of watching tourist's highlights there is a lot to do. It is open-minded and friendly. Has many pubs, bistros and coffees, cosy small cinemas as well as party houses. All depends on your taste.
What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?
There are several places to party hard but I rather prefer to go to cosy pubs or walk around the river the street Náplavka where all the ships with coffees, wine shops and bistros are.
How much does it cost to live in Prague?
It is quite good. Public transport is much cheaper for a student. Foodstores are everywhere and cheap as well. Even beer is for good prices still.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Prague? Is there any advice you can give?
Not sure. Did not have to do that as I am staying at own flat.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
In Prague, you can already find all world cuisines with quite good quality. It is always better not to eat around tourist's highlights. Prices there are not reasonable. Better to search for something smaller what is favourite for locals. E. g. Naše Maso is a great place where it is possible to try Czech "fast food" but the homemade high-quality way. Recommended!
What places would you recommend visiting in Prague?
- Prague castle gardens! - lovely views at the city.
- Vyšehrad - oldest settlement.
- Žižkov TV tower - good to have a brunch with such a nice view.
- Vítkov hill monument and the coffee shop at it's rooftop.
Is it good to eat out in Prague? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Great. If You know where to go!
- Lokal pubs.
- Naše maso.
- Emma espreso bar.
- Alchymista coffee.
- Můj šálek kávy coffee.
- Čestr.
Is the nightlife good in Prague? Where is good to go?
Not sure. I am not a party animal. But parties hold on a boat or at Náplavka by the river are always great.
What advice would you give future students heading to Prague?
Enjoy beer, food and all. Travel around the country. Buses are quite cheap and the network is wide.
