Experience in Prague, Czech Republic by Kateřina

What is it like to live in Prague? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The Prague is very busy city. There are lots of events such as exhibitions of all kinds, party and relax by the river, dancing classes, you can do all kinds of sports and there are 2 big parks. But not all places are so good for living. For the people from abroad it's cheap to find a room or flat for rent. Depends on location which is very important for good living.

What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?

Students like parties of course. Mainly they live together on college where they can share everything. Go to pub together, doing homeworks together and so one.

How much does it cost to live in Prague?

Some places in Prague are very expensive (compare to the Paris, Rome or other main cities in Europe is not so expensive) but you can also find cheap places as well. But in the centre it's difficult.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Prague? Is there any advice you can give?

I don't think it's difficult. You can find some on airbnb, couchsurfing, booking.com or for students it's better to follow some groups on fb.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I don't like Czech cuisine so much. But lots of people from abroad enjoy that. It's really heavy food. I can recommend you goulash, "svíčková", "řízek", "chlupate knedliky", potato soup.

What places would you recommend visiting in Prague?

Castle, promenade along the Vltava river, Vyšehrad, Old town square, market at Holešovice, Petřín, parks Letná and Stromovka.

Is it good to eat out in Prague? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it's good. Mainly for the lunch. Many restaurants offer special menu for lunch with lower price.

Is the nightlife good in Prague? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is good especially on summer time. There are many cinemas outside or other activities. From clubs I recommend you Lucerna where is played 80' & 90' one underground club Vagon or disco at James Dea. For rock fans I can recommend Harleys but it's always overcrowded. If you preferred chilled people you can find then in Crossclub.

What advice would you give future students heading to Prague?

Find your own Czech guide as a friend, they will recommend you more or take you to some special places they like.
