Why did you choose to go to Prague, Czech Republic?

Because I wanted to improve my English and I knew this was one of the most beautiful city in Europe.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It began at the beginning of October and ended on mid-December. I received 750€ for 5 months from my home university.

What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?

It's an amazing city for students. There's always something to do and to experience, you never get bored. And it's so cheap!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Prague to other students?

Yes, absolutely!

What is the food like?

Czech food is not my favourite but it's still good though. It's just really heavy food, I can't eat it everyday. Once in a while is okay.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Prague?

Yes it was a bit difficult, I had to go in 5 differents hostels before finding a flat but in the end it's perfectly located, spacious and cheap!

How much does it cost to live in Prague?

With 400€/month (without the rent) you can definitely have fun and live good.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, there are some language courses but for me it's not so easy to learn (I'm a french speaker). The accents, the way of pronouncing the letters and stuff are difficult.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Prague from your city?

Easiest one is the plane (you can have a return ticket for 30€) but by car is cheaper and easy too (I'm from Belgium).

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Prague?

Definitely Chapeau Rouge, my favourite bar/club in Prague.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Prague?

Javanka and Sladkovsky Cafe in Vinhorady are my favourites.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Prague Castle of course, Old Town Square, Vinhorady, many parks, Sapa (Vietnamese quarter)... too many!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Prague in the future?

Just get lost in the streets, forget about the map and discover by yourself!
