Why did you choose to go to Prague, Czech Republic?

Bcause it is in the heart of Europe and it is quite unexpensive.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It was for nine months. I received about 650€ per month, but that was two years ago and scholarships are now much lower.

What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?

It is the best. There are parties almost every day. Teachers at Charles University were quite understanding with Erasmus students. Life in Prague is not expensive and so there are lots of options.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Prague to other students?

Yes.

What is the food like?

The typical Czech food is not something I was used to, but some of those dishes were actually good. Anyways there are restaurants where you can have Italian, Spanish and I guess other types of food. And I'm sure it is possible to find things in the supermarkets that are what you are used to eating.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Prague?

No. I stayed at Hostivar (dorm) for a couple of months but then I moved into a flat with some friends.

How much does it cost to live in Prague?

Not very much. I paid about 230€ per month for the flat, plus food and other expenses such as money to go out and so.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Czech is not the easiest language, but it is possible to learn the basics, anyways if you speak English you'll be understood in most places in the city centre, and there were courses available at University for Erasmus students.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Prague from your city?

By plane. It takes less than 3 hours.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Prague?

To Vagon, best rock club in Prague.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Prague?

Atmosphere, near Chales Bridge. Great food and great prices.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Places like Charles Bridge and Old Town Square.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Prague in the future?

Don't be put out by the weather. At first it may be overwhelming, considering that it is already dark at 4 pm, but once you get past that, it'll be the best experience of your life.
