How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The duration was 3 months, I paid everything by myself.

What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?

Amazing, you have parties for everybody, all genres and types of clubs and bars. Life is rather cheap (food and drinks) and you have a very multicultural group of people living in Prague, so you meet very interesting people from around the world. And this in an amazing setting of old, beautiful and well preserved buildings, etc. Finally the public transport is amazingly well developed, cheap subscriptions and to every direction and at any hour.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Prague to other students?

Yes, definitely!

What is the food like?

Czech food is very basic, with meat, vegetables and mashed potatoes or something in that area but tasty. If your not into that, no worries, kitchens from all over the world are present throughout Prague. In fancy restaurants, hip and trendy ones or just simple take away formulas.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Prague?

Yes, the subscription fee of Erasmusu.

How much does it cost to live in Prague?

I got by with 400 euros rent plus an ammount between 300-450 euros for living per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

You can do allright with just English but they appreciate it if you do the effort of learning some basic czech (or some words) which is pretty easy. I did not follow any courses and have no clue if they are available.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Prague from your city?

I’d say a subscription at the public transport services. This way you have unlimited access to the trams and subway who cover almost the entire surface of Prague. But plane is the easiest way.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Prague?

There are so many, depending on your preferences. I always think in the "dog bar" (Vzorkovna) is a cool place to start off the night out.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Prague?

San Giovanni (I think) is a great Italian place, the Mexican restaurants of Las Adelitas are good for cocktails and superb Mexican specialties. And there’s many others I can’t remember by name. But for everybody something I’d say.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Take a map or read different sites which recommend the not so known or popular places. But definitely visit all the parks for great views and relaxing times.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Prague in the future?

Enjoy every second in this beautiful city!
