Erasmus Experience in Prague, Czech Republic by Archie
Why did you choose to go to Prague, Czech Republic?
It had a brilliant film school and I 'd heard it was a cheap and beautiful city.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
Initially it was 3 months, but after enjoying that time so much I stayed on for the whole academic year. Erasmus gave me roughly one hundred euros a month for living costs.
What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?
On one hand there's the parties and clubs aimed at erasmus students, mainly set up in central clubs and bars and they are always busy but with a similar feel to mainstream nights back home.
The best nights are found further out of the centre, in the clubs populated by Prague locals and good DJ's.
Its a very arty city. There's always exhibitions on and art school parties happening, you just need to make some czech friends as most of it is word of mouth.
Its really cheap, roughly half the price of living in the UK, and the Beer is brilliant.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Prague to other students?
I'd recommend it to anyone. There's a great culture and feel to Prague, and plenty opportunity to widen your outlook on life and see a lot of new things.

The food isn't great! Once you find your favourite its okay though.. I ate a lot of goulas
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Prague?
I stayed in a hostel for my first two weeks while looking for a place to rent. After meeting other erasmus students, I found a great place and some flatmates to live with, for roughly £200 a month, right in the centre.
How much does it cost to live in Prague?
Depends what you do! You can live off less than £100 a week pretty easily.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
The language is very difficult. There are english lessons at the Uni.
