Why did you choose to go to Prague, Czech Republic?

Because it's a small city with a lot of Erasmus students, and also a very beautiful city. It's really easy to travel since it's located in the middle of Europe. It's a quite cheap city to live. Also, there are great universities (CVUT and Charles).

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I received 1200€ per semester. The scholarship was enough for just 2 months.

What is the student lifestyle like in Prague?

It's amazing. Lots of people of all around the world and lots of parties.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Prague to other students?

Of course.

What is the food like?

For me it was good. However, it's heavy food with a lot of sauce. Many people dislike this kind of food, mainly Asians, but you can find restaurants with several kinds of food or cook your own food.

How did you find your accommodation?

Through the university.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

I paid about 120€ per month at my dormitory. The prices for food are about 5€ per meal. Public transport pass is about 10€ per month. The beer is cheap and the nightlife is very cheap.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The classes were in English. The Czech language is very difficult, I haven't learnt Czech, and I survived with my bad English. But if you are interested, you can join to the ISC classes or in the own university.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Prague from your city?

It depends where you are from. I came from Lisbon by plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Prague?

It depends on the weekday. Last year, the plan was:

  • Tuesday - party of Economic's University (they were the best parties);
  • Wednesday - CVUT party;
  • Thursday - Charles University party;
  • Friday and Saturday - good everywhere;
  • Sunday and Monday - rest days, maybe a beer in some pub.

There are many clubs in Prague for different tastes. And the best is: 4/5€ is the maximum for entrance.

Clubs that I like: Lucerna (80/90s), Chapeau Rouge, Zlatý Strom, Karlovy lázně, Mecca, ocko, Nebe, Batalion (for the end of the night), Cross Club (Drum and Bass, Reggae), Vagon (Rock music).

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Prague?

Strahov dormitory restaurant and Petřín restaurant also in Strahov dormitory. There is a great pizzeria in front of Billa market in Dejvicka.

In city center there is a great restaurant near Staroměstská underground station, in front of The Pub (also The Pub is very good, but quite expensive).

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There is an old town which is very interesting for history lovers, with a romantic atmosphere.
