What is it like to live in Ponta Delgada? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Ponta Delgada is a city for Nature lovers. Although its small place, it is excellent for long walks, good chatting with people who are open to every funny moment or adventure. The nights there are pretty calm, however you might enjoy the small cafes always with great live music. Also, it is the main city in the Azores and in the S. Miguel Island and it is pretty easy to get anywhere.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ponta Delgada?

Studying in Ponta Delgada is the combination of peace with nature. You do not see great crowds or big problems related to crime or pollution. So, you can totally enjoy and at the same time study.

How much does it cost to live in Ponta Delgada?

Living in Ponta Delgada might be one of the cheapest lifestyles ever. You may consider that Portuguese basic incoming is pretty low, so here the lifestyle tend to be more closed to people economic conditions. However you can find many products from many countries, you can go easily to a museum with less than 5 euros or to a concert or music festivals at maximum 30 euros and houses are around 250 or 300 euros (if you want a really nice one, of course).

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ponta Delgada? Is there any advice you can give?

Ponta Delgada is a small city so you can find a house or an accommodation very easily and not so expensive. You have many tourism offices that can suggest you good accommodations or you can enjoy a youth hostel that has been increasing at all levels of comfort.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Portuguese food is very diverse, but so delicious. However, you must consider that azorean food is a really nice one! You can enjoy the typical "cozido à portuguesa" which is a meat dish with vegetables and "chouriço", the great pineapples or juices like "Kima" or "Laranjada".

What places would you recommend visiting in Ponta Delgada?

You must go to the several gardens: António Borges; José do Canto or even the University's garden; a very good library in front of another garden "Jardim do Colégio" or even go to the mall where the cinema gives you great films, small but comfy pubs with a view to the sea.

Is it good to eat out in Ponta Delgada? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Rotas is a vegetarian restaurant with such a great food, there is also Avenida dos Anjos.

Is the nightlife good in Ponta Delgada? Where is good to go?

There are great pubs to go like "Cantinho dos Anjos" or "Baía dos Anjos" or small clubs like "KBar", "Karma" or "Ibiza club".

What advice would you give future students heading to Ponta Delgada?

Although it might look a bit small, you will find here a paradise which is too good for you and it will make you feel like home.
