Back to Lingayen: Missing Home
Back to Lingayen: Missing Home
IHow I wanted to share my first winter vacation in my hometown after spending some time in Budapest, Hungary for my first mobility window. I had my first semester in Budapest, Hungary and spent around four months in this city. In my succeeding post, I will share you some of my interesting experiences in the beautiful city of Budapest as a student and as a newcomer to the place. After the first semester at Budapest, I immediately booked my flight back to the Philippines. I decided to spend the winter break in my hometown since I miss the people so dear to me.
Apart from this, winter can be very nasty in Hungary.
Studying in a foreign country is not that easy. Nostalgia strikes frequently but you can get accustomed to it as time goes by. Being abroad could be a struggle at times. You should be prepared for a number of things before you give it a go---academically, emotionally, financially, etc. Emotional toll brought about by homesickness coupled by the melancholic winter is such an uphill travails. It is not uncommon to see some scholars having nostalgic feeling only after a month of stay. They miss home.
Back at Home for Now at Lingayen
Lingayen is the capital of Pangasinan, Philippines. The province is situated in the northern part of the Luzon island and is considered one of the largest provinces in the country and is known for its rich vote populace. Lingayen is considered as the heart and soul of the province of Pangasinan. It is the cultural center of the province and is the seat of the provincial government. Former President Fidel Valdez Ramos of the Philippines is a resident of the town. I currently reside in one of the largest barangays of Lingayen: Domalandan Center. Domalandan has Center, East and West.
As a scenic rural area, it has vast fishponds and greenfields. When I get bored I usually take a walk along the road going to the Domalandan river that is connected to the Limahong Channel.
Life is simple here. People work hard for a living but you can observe the energy, dynamism and enthusiasm of people towards life. Visit this little place and you will be welcomed with a smile by approachable people from all walks of life.
A Month Vacation Was Not Enough
The winter break for January to February is really short: a mere one month of sojourn to my hometown. After a month, I would be back to Europe for the spring term. Time flies so fast that it flings in the air without your knowing it. I made the most of my time and was able to execute my plan as originally intended. I was happy to accomplish all of them well ahead of time.
Vacation really is a good way to recharge one's self from the rigors of the academic life. It rejuvenates the nerves and renews one's interest in life.
For the meantime I can forget about the assignments, readings, exams and essays to write, I have ample time to rub off and forget about academics for the time being and enjoy my stay to my hometown. I surely miss a great number of things! I can't wait to go out and kick off!
