What is it like to live in Pavia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Pavia is a medieval city in the north of Italy. It's really small but it has many beautiful churches and historical places to visit. There are a lot of young people because the University is very big and important, but for the parties i recommend to go to Milano, it's only 40 minutes by car or by train and is surely more intresting and fun.
What is the student lifestyle like in Pavia?
There are plenty of students in Pavia, many of them are from other parts of Italy and they come here to study because Pavia's university is one of the best in Italy.
How much does it cost to live in Pavia?
It's not expensive at all.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Pavia? Is there any advice you can give?
There is a student campus for university students, but there are also many apartments in the city center that you can share with roommates, they are not very expensive.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is very good but quite heavy. Some typical dishes are risotto and polenta (my favourite), and of course pasta and pizza!
What places would you recommend visiting in Pavia?
You should definitely go to the Visconti's castle, to the Dome (the 3rd in italy for dimensions), the San Michele's Church (because it's 1000 years old and because Charles Magne had been there), and you should go to the hills all around the town.
Is it good to eat out in Pavia? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
I usually don't eat out because i don't have much money, but there are some really good and expensive restaurants, many kebab and pizza places
Is the nightlife good in Pavia? Where is good to go?
In summer there are many concerts and events.. in winter there's nothing to do and people often go to Milano
What advice would you give future students heading to Pavia?
You will surely like young people here, but please visit Milano too because during winter this city is dead
