Hi Pat.

You'll have no problem in going to Gijon everyday, since there are bus connections every ten minutes near the faculty. Moreover, the main bus station is near the Campus del Milán, so I strongly recommend you to rent an apartment near the station. The bus from Oviedo to Gijon and the other way round is about 30 minutes.

Ask if you have any other doubt ;)

That's great, it's such a relief to hear that. Thanks so much for your help, Sara! :) By the bus connections, do you mean those that go straight from campus to campus?

Also, are you aware of the CTA bus service? Can you please explain to me how that works?

Thank you so much again, Sara! Have a great day! :)

Pat

CTA bus service is just the company in charge of buses in Asturias between the principal towns (Oviedo, Gijón, Avilés and Mieres). Both this and the national (to other provinces and cities) and regional (to other points of Asturias) companies stop in the bus station.

Here you have some info about the student bus card: http://www.consorcioasturias.com/es/portal.do?IDM=66&NM=3&idIdioma=1

And here, the timetables for buses in both directions (you must look at the little tables, since those are between campuses): "Gijón a Oviedo y viceversa en pdf" (and the click in "Descargar el documento")

I hope you know enough Spanish or have a good translator, since the site is only in Spanish.

Anyway, when you arrive to the university, if you ask for it, you will get a tutor (a-dUO program) who is supposed to help you the first days to start living in Oviedo and solve your adaptation problems.

Again, feel free to ask any question, I'm happy to help you all as long as I can.

Oh, okay! I understand it better now.

Thank you for all the information and links, Sara! These are truly helpful and I'm sure will benefit the rest as well.

Hope you're doing good. Thank you so much again for your taking time out to help us! :)

Yes, there is Seçil.The university will inform you of this as soon as you arrive here, but I don't know if they are free or not. The one I know is not free, but not expensive: http://lacasadelaslenguas.uniovi.es/espanyolparaextranjeros/cursosyprogramas/espanyolintensivo/espanyolintensivointroduccion

I hope this can serve you well :)

Am I the only one who's going to miss the welcome week? :( Is it important? Shall I change my flight? I need some advice here!

Hello! Just a few questions: who is going to the Campus el Milan? And when exactly is welcome week? Were we supposed to get information about it?

Good morning everybody,

I would be interested in looking for a person who is native in English to talk to him or her to improve my English.
In exchange I offer conversations in Spanish and the help with all you need during your stay in Oviedo.

Sorry my English is still very bad.

if you have any doubt let me know.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Nikita and I will be going to the University of Oviedo to the Campus El Milan for 6 months as an Erasmus student and am looking for a roommate, preferably also a new student in Oviedo.

I have been looking at a few places online to rent and was wondering if anyone was interested in sharing a flat or studio with me for 6 months?

Let me know!

-Nikita.

Hi everyone,

My name is Ellen and I will be in Oviedo from September to May. Just wondering if flying in September 8th is too late, especially since I wont have any accomdation. Any tips on places to live if I will be studying Psychology. This would be so helpful.

Thank you!!!

Hi Ellen,

if you'll be studying Psychology, the best place to live is near the city center (where the faculty is located). Please check the previous posts out, I've already given some websites to look for accomodation. Anyway you'll be able to find it on your own once you arrive, since there are lots of ads for accomodation in faculties' bulletin boards.

I don't know when the orientation is held this year, but I guess that's not too late. However, September 8th is the regional holiday in Asturias, so be careful because maybe you  won't have the usual means of transportation available as a normal week day.

I would suggest you to change your flight if possible and arrive a little bit (just one or two days) before.
