Hello Maria! I'm planning to stay in an apartment but couldn't find one yet. Did you check something too??
Maria Palcau Written 12 years ago
Yes, I`m looking for an apartment and I find some on the internet but i don`t know what to choose. I would rather prefer to stay in a student residence but the prices are very expensive:(

Saphon Somoli Written 12 years ago
Hola! I am Somoli, I I supposed I will be in Oviedo for next semester too! I really worry about accomodation. by the way, as you said, the price to stay in Hall of Residence is so expensive, but I think we can register to stay there for a few days in order to find flate or studio or apartment to live. Because it's not so easy to rent a place while we are in the other country.

Hola a todos!
I don't actually live in Oviedo, I live in the next big city called Gijon, but I will be going to the university next year to take a masters and I have lot's of friends who go to University and live in Gijon or Oviedo too. I'm English but I have been living here since I was nine and I'm bilingual in Spanish so if anybody needs any help or has any questions I would be happy to help! I went on Erasmus myself to France and so I know how nice it is to have somebody who lives where you are going to talk to!

Hi everybody!
I'm from Oviedo and I'm a recent member of the ESN Oviedo, which is an european organization dedicated to erasmus people. We will organize activities, trips, parties, etc. for you to enjoy the amazing experience of being an erasmus student! :)
About the Welcome Week, I would suggest not to pay for the official welcome week organized by the university because it's really expensive and, as far as I know, there will be another Welcome Week organized by ESN that will be mainly free (perhaps you'll have to pay for a dinner or something like that) and the activities are quite the same as in the university's one, except for the teacher's talkings, for instance.
I'm sure you'll have a GREAT experience here in Oviedo!
If you have any other doubt don't hesitate to ask me or search for ESN Oviedo Asturias on facebook and ask there! Besitos! :)

By the way, I missed a very important thing I learnt on my erasmus! If you are wondering how to bring or send all your stuff without spending a lot of money, try this: http://ecoparcel.eu/?Pages.Home
I sent 40 kg. from Sweden to Oviedo for 35 € or so. They come to pick it up at your home and they deliver it at your home here.
Sometimes it's more expensive, depending on the ZIP code because they work with partners and maybe there's not a "cheap partner" around your region but it worked for me so take a look! :)

Hi everyone,
I am also going to study in Oviedo from September till February. I also still have a lot of questions but I imagine we'll manage ;). Sofia, do you have maybe more information about the ESN welcome week? Would be nice to get a bit more information. Your site (esnoviedo.org) doesn't seem to work and is also only in Spanish. I am not that fluent yet :).
Anyways, would be cool to meet up at some point before classes actually start. We can maybe set a date somewhere in the weekend before we start, so the weekend 7 september?
Sofía Perera Written 12 years ago
Hi Remco!
Yes, ESN Oviedo's web page is not available because they are working on a new and better web as it was not very cool and helpful the last years, I hope it will be ready when you come but I don't know as I'm not in charge of it.
I don't know yet all the information about Welcome Week, we're having a meeting this week so I guess we will discuss the details there. And I will tell them to write on the web page in english as well as in spanish, cause I think you're not the only one who speaks better english than spanish.
Anyway, some american students came to Oviedo in July to learn spanish and we organised a Welcome Week for them and your Welcome Week will be quite the same as this one, so I can tell you about some activities:
- Oviedo city tour & cider tasting
- Hiking to Cristo's Statue up on Naranco's mountain (small mountain nearby Oviedo)
- Gijón city tour
- Tapas night (every week)
- Spanish movie
- Canoeing on Sella's river
- Cycling on Ruta del Oso
I'm quite sure we'll do the same activities, but some of them (like hiking, canoeing and cycling) depend on the weather.
