Erasmus Experience in Osaka, Japan
Why did you choose Osaka, Japan as your Erasmus destination?
Because I had always liked Japan and I wanted to improve my Japanese skills.
How long is the program? How much money do you receive as a grant?
5 months, they don't provide pocket money, but they will pay for the tuition fees, accommodation, school supplies, breakfast, dinner and transportation to and from university.
How is the student environment in Osaka?
There is a wide variety of kinds of students, but you will surely find many foreigners living there to improve their Japanese.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Osaka to other students?
Yes, most certainly.
How is the food?
Incredible.
How did you find accommodation?
The university provided me with accommodation.
How are the accommodation prices? And the living costs of the city in general?
Quite expensive in general, some other things are incredibly cheap though.
What about the language? Did you attend any language course at the university?
Great, the exchange itself was meant to be a language exchange, plus they hardly speak any English.
What is the most affordable way to reach Osaka from your city?
The most convenient way is to go by plane, I did Malaga - Madrid - Helsinki - Osaka, booking it in advance you might save quite a bit of money.
Which places would you recommend for partying in Osaka?
Chicaichi, Zakoon and Lunar Club.
And for eating? Can you list your favourite spots?
Ichi Ran (Ramen) in Doutonbori and a sushi bar in Shotengai, close to Namba Nankai Station.
And as cultural visits?
Kyoto and Nara.
Any advice you would like to give to future students in Osaka?
Buy a second-hand bike as soon as possible.
