Manali, India
Manali is a small town, which is a famous tourist destination in India. Even if, the town is small, the beauty of this town and the environment is breath-taking and hard to convert in to words. Manali is locatedatnorth part of the valley of Kullu, which was mentioned as the “Valley of Gods” by the villagers.
Due to the bit cold and comfortable climate and the refreshing weather, Manali became a famous holiday destination for both locals and foreign people. Manali is surrounded by the chains of mountains and beautified by the breath-taking rivers. Uneven landscapes and the small hills in the area, created beautiful spots to see the sight sceneries and to relax the time with friends. Due to the fact, this small town became famous shooting location for many Bollywood movies during the recent past as well as in the ancient times.
Most of the time, this area is covered with snow and it creates a perfect background for snow games. Even if, I havetravelledto many other countries such as Switzerland, where I could play snow games and skiing, Manali was a totally different place for me due to the different architectural and cultural combination of the village.
If you wish to try something new in a different way with a different culture, then I recommend going to Manali and enjoy trekking, climbing the mountains, skiing, rafting, cycling and many other out-door activities. Besides them, you can visit small museum, Buddhist temples and parks located in Manali.
The name of the town call “Manali” was given after the lawgiver call “Manu”, who lived in this area in the ancient times. Today we can see a temple, which was dedicated to sage Manu, to convey the honour and to pay the respect to his memories. I must mention, that this temple is different from the other temples that I have seen in the other countries due to the architecture and the small wooden carvings of the temple. This temple is peaceful and beautiful.
Besides that, the villagers grow apple, pearandplum, which are very tasty and fresh. During the colonization period, Britain introduced apple plant to this area and started to grow them in a wide area. Due to the perfect climate, these plants grow very fast and bear fruits. Today apple, pearandplum became one of the best majorsourceof income for the villagers exclusive of tourism.
Since I went there with a group and a tour guide, everything was organized by the tour guide. So, we reached there by a tourist bus. But, according to the details I have obtained from the tour guide, you can reach there by train or bus. But according to myopinionthe best thing is to travel with a tour guide during your visit in India since it will be much more convenient for you.
There are lot of people who are selling small souvenirs, street foods and many other things for the tourists. most of the time, they come and try to sell something for tourist. I had this experience several times. But my tour guide helped me to escape from them without hearting their emotions.
I could have a fun time with friends, while shipping in the Mall road, where I could buy woollen cloths, one of their fancy national clothes, small souvenirs, some handicrafts for my relatives etc. Prices were reasonable. Even if, some of the handicraft key tags were broken after few months, still I use the woollen sweater, which I bought from there.
We could find accommodations for a reasonable price. We could find a room for 40 euro per one night, which was a reasonable price for us. There are many hotels, which offer accommodation and meals as a one package. We could enjoy different types of Indian meals such a Chapathi, Allu Parata, Wade and Samosa in every night and in some of the evenings.
Besides that, there are many other hotels, restaurants, bars and cafés to enjoy different types of foods. We could easily find the Italian and Chinese, Japanese foods in this villages exclusive of the typical Indian dishes. Once my tour guide recommend me some Thai, Korean and Vietnamese cuisines during my stay. But, I could not have a chance to enjoy them since my favourite part was eating Indian street foods and the sweets such as Gulab Jamun. I must say all these Indian sweets are very tasty but too sweet and bit oily.
After climbing up the mountains, crossing the river branches and enjoying the beautiful sight sceneries, we could enjoy a relaxing night time in the Cafes and bars after having strong coffee with some Indian sweets. At night Manali is very elegant and relaxing due to magnificentenvironment. You can also enjoy drinking in the bars and night life in the disco according to your preferences since you can find many places for them in Manali. We had a nice time in Zing Zing Bar, where you can enjoy with yourfriend, while drinking and eating. Besides that, we had nice night walks in the streets with friends.
Along with all those things, I like to recommend you keeping all your valuables with and pay your attention during your journey all the time. Specially, while you are shopping in the crowded streets.
If you go to India, then do not miss to go to this small town in Himachal Pradesh, where you can have a relaxing and adventurous time with your family and friends. Most of the Indian young marries couple choose this destination to spend their honeymoon. So, if you like you can select this destination for a romantic vacation.
