While in Ommen, you should have a drink at Cafe de Herberg!

Café de Herberg is located on Brugstraat 27. This is in Ommen - a town in the north-east part of the Netherlands. To translate from Dutch to English, Café de Herberg means Café Inn.

Its history is really amazing. Café de Herberg has a rich history and has been a pub since 1740!

The cafe bar was called Big House and has been run by the Great House family until 1927, then the pub was taken over by the family Siero and renamed Café Siero. In 1971 the pub was taken over by Henk Hulsegge. Ab Kelder took over the cafe in 1978 and 10 years later Jane Swarts bought the cafe. Jane owned the cafe and ran it with Hans Mulder from 1988. In 2009, the cafe was sold to Hans van Lingen. Hans sold the bar in 2011. Now Freddy Lugers owns the café, I think. Or maybe Hans van Lingen bought the café back from Freddy Lugers.

So, the café offers many things to its visitors. It has a rich history in the field of music and top bands perform there in every month, and there are also DJs in Café de Herberg. There are guitars and other musical instruments hanging on the walls and I haven’t asked, but maybe they are from some famous musicians, or gifts from them or something.

There is a pool and you can play billiards with your friends and enjoy your visit to Café de Herberg. Also, there is a cozy smoking area if you are a smoker. You can play darts, too. Or just drink a beer or something else and just chat with people around, or with a bartender.

The café even offers broadcasting major sports events. They broadcast big football games, as well as football games of the Dutch national team and they broadcast all Formula 1 races live!

They have dart teams in Café de Herberg and the teams play in different divisions. They also organize tournaments in dart’s a few times a year, where everyone can participate.

They also have billiards’ teams and they organize championships, which are open to everyone who wants to participate.

There have been all Formula 1 races broadcasted live in Café de Herberg since 1994. And people bet on their favourites and see whether they win or not.

Our visit there

So, it was a Friday or something and our trainings lasted longer, but then we were free and some guys decided we could go out and have some fun together. It was a great idea and everyone just agreed without any hesitation. So, we went to Cafe de Herberg.

We crossed the bridge and took some photos there as it was a great view from there and the Christmas decorations looked nice, too.

When we came into the cafe, it was really cozy and everything was so calm until we came there! People were just sitting there, chatting with each otheras they were all the residents of Ommen and they knew each other and there was no one new, except for us! We just wanted to have fun and there were many of us, so, we brought some noise in there!

Some ordered some beer, some ordered something else. I wanted to order beer as I really don't drink anything else except for wine, and I did order it, but then I heard some girls calling me and one of them took me at the other end of the bar and I was very curious what they wanted. Then they told me we had to have some tequilla shots! I admit, I hadn't have any tequilla until that and I didn't even know if I liked it or not, but as they say, there's always time for our "first" and it was my first time of tequilla shots. I must say, it was not something that I expected. I expected it to be something bad to taste, but it was not.

Then I drank my lovely beer and it was delicious, I can say. There was some music, too, and we played the pool, which was a table for drinks, too.

The evening ended with this great song of the Placebo called "Every me, every you", which I love very much and everyone pretty much knew this song and we sang it alltogether and it was amazing.
