Italian Vespa: let’s ride a bee!
Lots of small Italian joys in just one photo! Juiced jerked meat, which makes your mounth waterm the rang of sweet liquors for every taste, grape-vine on the wall.. and of course, Vespa, beautiful scooter known as Italian stereotype, but so awesome because of stylish design and bright colours.
The first Vespa series were manufactured for sale in the forties of XX century and immediately got an interest all around the world. The funny fact is that Italian production made a quick response in Soviet Union: in 1957 the soviet scooter Vyatka was released, which almost totally imitated Vespa 150 gs.
By the way, Vespa means “Bee”in Italian language and was called like that for 2 reasons: first is the shape of scooter which gave to manufactures an association with the body of bee; second one is that the noise of the motor was similar with bee buzzing. Scooter received a favour from the Pope Pius XII, who noticed that Vespa gave an opportunity to use the privileges of private transport not only to rich but also to common people.
What about the most expensive Vespa representant, it was owned by 2 students from Madrid, who decided to use it as a transport to make a journey around Europe. In Costa Brava region they were lucky to meet Salvador Dali, who blessed the guys and wrote his name and the name of his loved one Gala in the lateral covers of scooter. Nowadays this Vespa is possible to see in Piaggio museum, Pontedera.
I would like to remember the longest trip on Vespa: it was made by Luca Capocciano and he used his Vespa to visit 28 counties during 3 years! This information motivates me to repeat his adventures!
