Murcia, it could be better

I don't like Murcia much. To me, it doesn't seem like a beautiful city. I study there because it is near my village. The University is good; I study in “La Merced” which is in the city centre and the best bit of the Murcia's centre along with the tascas hehe. Truthfully the cathedral is spectacular but I wouldn't emphasize on much more. It is undeniable that the Segura river is shamefully dirty. There are some beautiful villages in Murcia such as those in the Ricote Valley or Sierra Espuña and beaches as well - a lot of coastal area, some cleaner than others. Generally speaking, I find Murcia rather ugly - practically empty landscapes and without any charm in the slightest. There are lots of bars; some with excessive prices (of course, cheaper than Madrid but more expensive than in other cities). In my opinion, it is best to go out to the tascas where there are good vibes and which are all nearby.

Whoever likes clubs (I don't like them at all) can also go to the Atalayas zone. There are ugly areas like “La Fama”, where they don't seem to have bins. It is a disgrace how dirty the streets are. However, the main streets are cleaned everyday and are fairly decent. In regards to the weather, it has pros and cons: in winter the weather is warmer than in other areas, but in summer the heat is insufferable (above all for someone like me who isn't accustomed) and the stench as well. In the interior it is the other way round. The Winter is insufferable and the Summer, more bearable. In Murcia, I miss more parks and gardens, and those that are there aren't very well cared for. I wish that there were more green areas. Really no one can tell me that they are in abundance. Parties conform more to the weekends - either in the nightclubs or bars.

The transport doesn't seem as awful as I have read. There are buses in excess, although I have understood that some lines are better than others. The most important parties are those in spring, and “El Bando de la Huerta”, a crazy party where people drink, wear traditional clothes and have a good time. I haven't missed it since I've known about it hehe! The gastronomy of Murcia is quite good, typically with products coming from the ground which is healthy. Those who like football can see Real Murcia's matches with a new and modern pitch, with around 35, 000 spectators (if I'm not mistaken). It's a pity they went down to second division.

I would highlight very favourably the quantity of cultural activities which take place practically every week, with concerts, conferences, theatre (I strongly recommend you go and see a masterpiece at the Romea), reading clubs, etc., etc., etc. Very much to my regret, there are a large quantity of golf courses for those who love this sport. In my opinion, this is a poor use of water. I have broadened my opinion in order to make it a little more complete. I ask for comments but with respect.
