Experience in Murcia, Spain by Maria Belen
What is it like to live in Murcia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It is a nice southern city, with beautiful cultural places to visit and lovely people, totally recommendable to people who enjoy sunny and hot weather. However, I must say that Murcia is a especially warm city, and therefore people who are not used to hot weather might find it difficult to get used to it at first, especially at night. So find yourself a cool flat or shared house to live in, or you won't be able to sleep at all at first!
What is the student lifestyle like in Murcia?
There are always a lot of young people in the streets, especially in the centre of the city (where one of the campuses is, along with the most popular pubs, discos, etc. ).
How much does it cost to live in Murcia?
Not too much. I pay 200€ per month for rent and including bills, and the food is not expensive at all.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Murcia? Is there any advice you can give?
I wouldn't say so. I would recommend using Milanuncios, or if you want it to be more reliable, go to Opau. It is a developer in which you pay a fee and they find you a flat depending on the rent you want to pay.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
You have a wide variety of supermarkets, from cheaper to more expensive, like Dia, Consum, Mercadona, Aldi, etc.
What places would you recommend visiting in Murcia?
The Cathedral, the Bellas Artes Museum, the Plaza de Santo Domingo, the Casino...
Is it good to eat out in Murcia? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, you can find a lot of places to eat where the food is not expensive at all.
Is the nightlife good in Murcia? Where is good to go?
There are always people on the Plaza de la Merced, which is the square right next to the University. A lot of pubs and discos and places to go to have a drink with friends, dance, etc.
