Experience in Murcia, Spain by Adrian
What's it like to live in Murcia? Do you recommend it? How is it?
Murcia is one of the best southern cities in Spain, firstly because of its climate, it has a nice temperature and it's almost always sunny and quite hot during the summer months. Secondly, when it comes to parties in Murcia, you can find anything, from an alternative midnight party to a calm rock and roll place in a bull ring which has been adapted into a club (Musik), to a so-called disco where you can find chart music, reggaton places and even various smaller-scale venues where you can smoke inside and what-not. Beer prices are really cheap; you can find pints for €1. 50 right in the centre of Murcia. The city's people are the best and are friendly and witty, but take care when passing through certain areas at night, especially as it can be a bit scary if you're not from there.

How's student life in Murcia?
The atmosphere is very student-y, it's clear to see that Murcia is a university city and this is obvious during the summer months when the place is practically deserted.
What's the cost of living like in Murcia?
The cost of renting a room in a shared flat can be anything between 100 and 200 euros a month, depending on the location of the building and the facilities it has.
Was it hard to find accommodation in Murcia? Do you have any advice?
It's not hard to find accommodation as there's a multitude of websites and adverts for all the university students which focus on student flats.
How's the country's food? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is amongst the best in all the country, we have a lot of specialities, ranging from pork sausage, 'magra frita con patatas bravas' (meat and vegetable stew served with fried chunks of potato), 'michirones' (bean stew) and not forgetting the big paella, all of these are always served with a slice of lemon.
There are loads of restaurants in Murcia, the food is very good

Do you have any advice for students coming to Murcia?
Murcia is a city which gives you the freedom to party whilst spending very little money, with really sociable people - you have to have a head for adjusting to their partying timings.
