It's not difficult to find apartments but they are expensive especially within the city. Most people resort to shared apartments to cut cost. The farther you are from the main city, the cheaper the accommodation. There are usually cheaper accommodations on the outskirts.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I personally love cooking but my favourite Russian dish is plov. It's rice and chunks of beef and carrots. Restaurants and Cafes offer a wide variety of food including potatoes, bulgur wheat, soups, etc. The soups are especially flavorful and delicious

What places would you recommend visiting in Moscow?

The Kremlin and Red square is definitely the number one place to visit, there is also the Gorkii park, Moscow bridge and lots of museums. Most museums are free for students.

I usually don't eat out but when I do, my favorite restaurant is TGIF - Thank God it's Friday. There are nice restaurants as well and fast food joints all over the city.

What advice would you give future students heading to Moscow?

It is to your benefit to learn the Russian language as people warm up to you faster and it makes it easier to navigate your way through things. Sometimes students get discounts off purchases, so be sure to always ask. Muscovites are generally friendly people, don't be afraid to approach people to ask questions when you are lost or don't understand things.
